We walked into Rouzen's library, where his private study was also located by chance. He led us in through large double wooden doors into the high ceiling room. All the bookshelves were the same exact wood color as the doors. They lined the sides of the room and made rows. The rows stopped at the pillars. All this was in a resessed part of the room.
We walked down the three steps that took us to the depression and we were in the middle of the library. There were several tables and chairs for reading as well as chess boards on some with only two chairs for players. There was a marble set, a glass set, and a metal set out on three of the many tables. I looked up and I saw that the library extended to the second floor.
The railings were the same wood color as well and a chandelier hung in the middle at the second floor level. Although it was the only large lighting piece in here it illuminated the top and bottom floors equally. Small lights indented into the ceiling lit up dark areas in the rows of bookshelves. My eyes spotted the staircase that led up to the second floor hiding in a corner.
"So this is my study, what do you think of it?" Rouzen asked.
"It's amazing." I, personaly, was a book lover. Not as crazy as my friend Sam is, well, was however but I did pick up the occasional fairy tale.
"I'm glad you like it." He said."My study, that is my desk and important documents I've been researching, is located right above us on the second floor." he explained, informing me."You can pretty much find me there any time of night." he added, his eyes still focused on where his desk was.
My eyes did a quick go over of his library again. It was just so vast! And the amound of bookshelves and books on them, I would and probably could never read that many in my lifetime!
"Now," Rouzen said, clapping his hands together and rubbing them together before stopping and holding them as if he was praying."who wants to play me in a game of chess?" he asked, looking around for a pretend opponet.
"You already know my answer to that, father." Kaito said.
Rouzen nodded, and turned to me."How about you little lady?" he asked.
"I would, but I'm not very good...." I admitted.
"None sense!" he boomed."I'll be the judge of that." he said and walked over to the glass chess set and sat down.
I walked behind him and took the seat across from him on the side of the board with the pure white glass pieces. Instead of black, the opposing chess pieces were made of crimsion glass ones.
"Those pieces,"Rouzen pointed to mine."are made of pure diamond." he boasted."That side rather reflects you well. A pure white haired queen for a pure white army." he complemented.
I looked at my pieces in astonishment. They couldn't all be made of exactly pure diamond, could they? I asked myself.
"My pieces are made of ruby red crystals." he said and looked at his."I prefer these ones over the diamond. They represent my deathly good skill at chess." he said proudly."Although I mean no discouragement to you." he added quickly.
"None taken." I replied.
"Now, I'll let you move first." Rouzen said.
I took a good long look at the board. The worst thing to do was go first. I knew since I was up against an expierenced player, he would hatch a plan to beat me after my first move. So I did the only thing I knew I could do.
"No, I mean....I insist you go first." I countered.
"Smart girl." He chuckled and moved a pawn.
