Early Thursday morning

Kaito

My elated gate faded into a full stop at the door way. I hesitated in taking a step, then I continued slowly. My full attention was on the bed on the left side of the room. The covers were stained in a deep red, blood. The smell made its way over to me, but I took no notice in it no matter how much it was trying to tempt me.

My eyes started at the dark wooden footboard and then to the covers. They made their way to the figure on the bed legs. The person's legs were cut badly, twice on one leg and once on the other. They were deep gashes. My eyes then traveled to the person's waist and arms. There didn't seem to be any damage on the waist, although the clothing was shreaded a bit. At the arms there were deep cuts and scratches, even worse than the legs. My gaze traveled up the right side of the body, from the arm to the shoulder. To the shoulder to the neck. And from the neck to the head.

My eyes lingered on the face of the figure. No matter how much I wanted it not to be true, the face belonged to Emma. I then took her in all at once. Laying on the bed on her back she had been volenrable. Her ankles were still handcuffed to the foot I noticed. That sent some flare of anger through me, but not enough to engnite it. There were also handcuffs laying near the edge of the bed near her head. I assumed that they had also handcuffed her hands by the headboard, but tooken them off to.....torture her. I couldn't form the words even in my head.

As I neared the end of the bed, I noticed, even though she was badly hurt. Emma was hauntingly beautiful when she was asleep like that. Her hair layed out underneath her and her body was motionless. The look on her face was emotionless, and yet it held the look of innocence. There was no fear on her face.

I made my way around the bed to the left side and sat down so that my back was to her waist, but I was turned to see her face. I picked up her left hand. It was completely limp. I studied the damaged arm with no emotion on my face, but I knew I was close to breaking. I turned it over to get a look on the back of it. I managed to stiffle my gasp before it left my mouth. There was fresh bite marks on it from a vampire. That meant the level E must have gotten a taste of Emma's blood. With all this blood lost, when it took even more......I refused to think Emma was dead.

"Emma.....?" I said softly as I ran my fingers through the roots of her hair.

She didn't stir at all. She remained as motionless and as limp as before. One part of my mind was beggining to expect the worse while the other half was in disbelief. It wanted Emma to be all right. To wake up by the soft touch of my hand. This part was dominating me right now.

"Emma...?.....Emma.....?" I asked again, my fingers left her hair and touched her face. They held their place.

Emma still didn't respond. Her head fell the opposite way from my hand. I thought that maybe she had done it and my hope rasied falsely until I realized that my hand had been the culprit. My chest began to get heavier and heavier, my breathes were short quiet gasps. I couldn't handle the thought of Emma being gone. I couldn't comprehend it.

"Emma!" I shouted out forcefully in pain.

My eyes dropped so that it looked like I was about to cry. Out of the corner of my eyes, I saw my group. They were by the doorway and when they saw me looking at them the slightest bit, they moved a little farther from the door. They were still in sight, but not as noticeable as before. I didn't care though. It was just me and Emma now.

I made my hands leave her face no matter how much it pained me to do so. They hovered over her head, I desperately wanted to return them there. Then I made them slowly return to my side, but they stopped, hovering over her waist now. My hands trembled over her limp body for a few seconds before I gave in to pulling away. My hands slid underneath her back, one staying there and the other went up to support her head. I slowly lifted her so that she was sitting up now. She was so light, I realized. I brought her to me so that I could embrace her. Her body was touching mine now, but her arms remainded at her side.
