Emma
Night classes ended and I returned to Moon Dorm to sleep. I walked up the long stairs by myself to the third floor where the pureblood's rooms were. When I reached the top, I saw Kaname give me a cold stare before he entered his room. He had been talking to one of his group members, Seiren I think it was. The girl passed me by silently with no emotion on her face and decended the steps.
I ignored her coldness and went to my room off to the right. Inside my room, I changed into my short nightgown and climbed into my bed. Laying in there silently, I gazed up at the cieling. A knock came at my door and I sat up in bed, pulling the covers to my chest.
"Enter." I commanded whoever was outside.
Kaito peeked his head in and then came in fully.
"I was able to get a meeting with the counsil." He said softly, walking over to my bed.
He came over and sat down at the corner by my feet.
"How?" I asked astonished.
"I promised them a few favors. They have trouble convincing people too." He replied.
"You mean you're going to use your powers on unsuspecting people." I clearified.
"I'm used to people hating me by now." he sighed.
A silence passed between us.
"So when is the meeting?" I asked him, pulling him from his thoughts.
"You'll have to wake up early. They want to see you by sunset. If you arrive late, they won't accept you." Kaito replied.
"Who's taking me?" I thought out loud.
"Koien. He has his own car now and the counsil are quite fond of him. He might be able to get the counsil more willing to listen to you." He answered.
"You seem tired." I commented.
"Being a pureblood causes me endless worries and I never get any rest." He sighed.
"You're not doing anything now." I reminded him.
"But there will soon be another matter for me to attend to. The problems never stop bothering me." Kaito said, bringing his hand to his forehead as if he had a headache.
"You can rest beside me right now." I suggested.
He looked at me, then got up off of the bed. At first I thought he was going to leave, but he was just going around to the other side of the bed. He sat down on the left and swung his legs up on the bed. His head settled into the pillow. I laid back down, laying parallel to him looking up at the cieling as well.
"You know I care about you more than anything else." He told me.
"And I you." I replied.
"Then why are you helping Zero?" He asked.
"Don't start this again." I warned him, an edge to my voice.
"I'm not angry......I just want to know why you keep insisting on saving his life." Kaito said softly.
"I had hoped to remain friends with Zero after all that's happened. And friends help friends. I'm sure if I was ever in trouble, I could count on not just you and your group to save me, but him as well." I explained.
"You want to be friends with him? Nothing more?" He asked, puzzled.
"I told you, I love you. Zero is just a friend just like Arashi or Toran." I emphasized.
Kaito chuckled."It seems all this time I've been worried about nothing."
"Worrying about things is no use. Why concern yourself with something that you know would never happen? It's a bad way to live your life afraid all the time." I reasoned.
