Emma
Around lunch time, which was simply a break in the class so that we could drink those awful blood tablets down with water, Toran made his way to my side of the classroom gleefully. He had waited for Kaito to leave the class. My boyfriend, before he had left at the call of midnight, had told me he was going out to find Kogeta. He had assured me that nothing was wrong, he only needed to find his assistant. I wasn't so sure though. He had acted figety, like he was in a hurry. Arashi was at Toran's side like always, michevious grins on their faces.
"Guess what I got my hands on?" Toran asked me and I had a feeling he wouldn't go away until I answered him.
"What?" I sighed. I hadn't a single clue to what the two, noble-ranked vampires had been up to.
"Ta, da!" My redish brown haired friend said, pulling out a small white envelope from his jacket. The seal had already been torn. "An invitation to Ruka's birthday party!" he beamed.
"Ruka's birthday party?" I echoed, surprised that I hadn't heard such an important piece of information from Kaito or one of the other purebloods. I went to reach for the paper Toran dangled in front of me.
"Hands off." He quickly drew his hand back with the invitation. "This one's for Hana and myself." Toran tucked it back into his jacket.
"And Ruka asked me to deliever this to you." Arashi told me, holding a white envelope with its red ink seal still on it.
I took it from him and expertly slipped my thumb underneath the ink, breaking the seal in one clean move. The letter inside was expensive white paper with scarlet ink written in script writing.
To Emmalene & Kaito:
I hearby invite the both of you to my nineteenth birthday party this August on the twenty second in the Moondorm gardens. I expect you to dress in scarlet attire to accompy the party's theme.
Looking forward to seeing you there, Ruka Souen~
"The twenty second is this Wednesday." I realized, but I wasn't worried. The red-rose victorian dress that Kaito had bought me was perfect for her party. "Are you going, Arashi?" I asked out of curiosity.
He smiled, flashing his fangs at me. "Naturally." He said, the word rolling off his tongue. "But we're not the only ones invited. Kogeta and Violet will be attending as well. Even Raki and Koien, who have no one to go with other than themselves, will be coming along too."
"Ruka's invited everyone." Toran filled me in, then noticed his mistake. "Well, AlMOST everyone. Your cousin didn't enroll in time to recieve a letter." he corrected himself. Then he laughed. "I wonder how mad she'll get when she sees everyone with one."
"I bet that she'll crash the party with or without an invitation." Arashi put his prediction forth.
I had no doubt that he was right, too. If Keirrin hadn't cared one way or the other when she had spoken out to the Day Class, she probably wouldn't have a problem with tagging along with me to Ruka's party. I sighed.
"Already getting the pre-disaster blues?" Toran asked with a grin. "Don't worry, I'll make sure she doesn't crush too many people with her hugs of death."
I gave a mock laugh. "The same way you made sure she didn't waltz into my room earlier today?" I teased.
He only smiled in defeat, showing his fangs off like Arashi had done moments before. "Speaking about that," he began, a look on his face that told me that he knew something I didn't. "Kaito went after Kogeta because he didn't show up this morning. He was suppose to make sure that no one inturr....Ow!" Toran cried after being elbowed in the ribs by Arashi.
I gave Arashi a raised eyebrow, suspicious of their behavoir.
"What he meant to say," My ash haired friend revised his best friend's words, looking at me with nervous eyes. "is that his older brother was suppose to warn him that your cousin was coming today."
"So....Kaito knew that she was coming?" I pressumed. It would account for why he'd been acting so strange today.
Toran and Arashi gave a look between each other.
"Pretty much." Toran shrugged.
Arashi smiled nervously before grabbing Toran's arm. "We'd like to talk some more, but unfortunately, we have to go....Uhhhh...." he stuttered, having a hard time of speaking clearly.
"Oh, ah, right!" Toran spoke up, remembering whatever it was that Arashi was having trouble with. "We have to go brush our teeth!" he announced and shook his head in disgust quickly. "Blood tablets. Ugh! The taste is awful."
"Yes, we simply must wash out our mouths right away." Arashi added and withdrawed with Toran still in tow.
"Oh, okay....then." I muttered as they backed away, waving at me as they went out the classroom door. Everyone sure was acting strange today. I needed to find someone who wasn't up to something.
A minute later, another person approached me.
"Have you seen Kogeta?" A feminine, soft voice asked from my left.
I turned in my seat to find Violet standing behind me, a hand balled in a fist to her chest. Her wavy blonde hair fell down onto her shoulders and her grey eyes seemed quite worried.
"No, I'm sorry. I haven't." I told her. She opened her mouth to speak, but I thought of something else to tell her. "Kaito's suppose to be looking for him, though. I'm sure he'll find Kogeta."
"Oh," She mouthed and a disappointed look came across her face. "Well, thank you." Violet dipped her head and turned back around, going back up to her chair.
When I turned back around, a single clap echoed throughout the room, calling my attention.
"Alright, return to your seats." Yagari ordered as he stood at the front of the class.
There was a shuffling as people found their way to their seats. I noticed Toran and Arashi just barely managed to sneak their way in the doors and to their seats on the side of the room in time. Yagari opened his book again and asked us to do the same. We returned to the earlier lesson, but I couldn't focus. Kaito hadn't came back. Kogeta was no where to be found. And everyone seemed to be up to something tonight. Nothing was going as usual, which was just like any year for me at Cross Academy.
