Rose~n~Thorn Vampire: Chapter 17

Emma

"Emmalene Nakamura, would you please take the stand?" The head counsil member asked me as soon as all five members had seated themselves.

I got up off my chair and moved to the center of the room, my hands gripping the podium. This wasn't like the last time I had been here. It had been completely empty in the stands around the circular room. My eyes caught a glimse of the side of the room. With a nervous gulp I realized that every seat was filled. Even Kaname and Yuuki Kuran had showed up.

"Tell me why you have shown up here when you do not have Shizuka's heir." The head ordered me, a slight grumpiness in his voice.

"I have an explanation, but first I would like you to hear the words of my brother." I replied carefully.

"Your brother?" He scoffed, glancing at his fellow counsil members who were also chuckling."Do you believe we'd fall for his lies?"

"My brother is not my father." I glared at him and lowered the room temperature using my powers."And with those words, I hope you'll listen to what he has to say without bias." I pronounced desicively.

Looking back into the audiance, Jarred stood up from his seat at the edge of the benches. He walked down the stairs to the ground floor. We passed each other as I headed to stand against the wall and he to the podium in my place. His eyes looked determined, but I knew he was actually nervous about standing in front of the people who had defined his character most of his life.

"I don't think I have to tell you what my father was like..." Jarred began once I'd turned around and stood waiting. He had given me one last glance before speaking."So, I'll skip that part and get to the details."

"My father, Demetrius Nakamura, was often found of throwing parties at the manor he and my mother shared together. We all know that he was often too.....social....with the pureblood women, yet he settled down with a young woman by the name of Marionette. I was born a few years later and was raised within the same mansion I mentioned before."

"One particular gathering my father had attracted the attention of a pureblood everyone knew to be lone. She and my father, both being of the same personality type, instantly fell for one another. The relationship however went too far. The woman ended up having a child, a girl who is standing within this room now."

"You seem to have forgotten the woman's name." The head counsil member mused.

Jarred responded calmly."I was refering to Shizuka Hio. This is what this meeting is about? Isn't it?" He challenged the other man.

The counsil member seemed taken aback, which added to the amusement of the audiance."And who might this child be? I do not see her with you or your sister." he quickly changed the topic.

"Why, she's been standing in front of you the entire time." My brother replied slyly. He gave the man a few minutes before elaborating."My sister is the heir. She has been all this time. I'm sure most of you have wondered how Emma has aquired white hair when the trait was non-exhistant in my family bloodline."
