Kaito and I arrived at the empty caffeteria. He said that it would be easier for him to tell his life story if he was sitting down. But he was probably concerned for me. I was sure vampires could stand pretty much all day if they wanted to. Me on the other hand was a different story. So we sat down at a table at opposite sides.

"I should warn you though," Kaito said as we sat down."That my story isn't as intresting as Zero's is." he gave a smirk then continued. "I was born in a mansion that was out in the country, away from humans. A vineyard I think it was called. Anyways, I lived a pretty normal life except for I was not like other vampires. I was too kind. Instead of learning on how to feed on humans,"

I flinched at the sound of feeding. He paused slightly noticing my drawback and then continued on.

"Like my instructors wanted me to do, I was bent on learning on how to fit in with humans. How to interact appropiately with them because human and vampire society are completely different. I hated the thought of killing humans. And like many others, I tried to find a way out of my cursed life."

He let out a sad sigh.

"But sadly there are no alternatives. Animal blood does not match up with a vampire's make-up. Only humans are the closest thing because we evolved out of them. So only their blood will do. Vampirism is a form of anemia. We might have super strength and move faster than the human eye, but the draw back is we rely on humans. You see, vampires can breath in oxygen but they need a heart to process the oxygen through their blood. That's why we drink a humans blood. Their blood is full of processed oxygen, ready for use." he explained.

Then he realized he was getting a bit off track and picked up where he left off.

"So, with the discovery that I could not avoid my fate, I did whatever the instructors told me to do. And they would always get rid of the humans I had practiced on."

I winced again. I then became confused. Why would his intructors need to get rid of the humans that he bit into. Then I remembered what Kogeta had said about only purebloods could turn a human into a vampire. But then, why would he even need to get rid of the humans who had turned into vampires?

"You're a pureblood?" I asked in the tone of a question and a statement.

"Yes. A coward pureblood, but a pureblood none the less." he answered.

"Then why would your instructors get rid of the humans?" I pressed.

"Because they would turn into vampires."

"I don't think I follow you." I said, confused.

"A human who is bitten by a pureblood becomes a Level E. A level E is a former human that was bitten and has lost all emotions and only cares for blood. Level E's do anything to get it too. Whether it's a mother, a daughter, a uncle; it doesn't matter. They'll kill them all with delight. And just for the sake of blood."

So the thing I saw that night when I saved Sam and Risa was a Level E....

I thought putting the information together.

He refocused to his story."I was stuck with my instructors for a while and I hated it. I was glad when I learned there was all to know. From there it was a bunch of going to banquets and dinners for my parents sake. Public announcement of a heir means they're ready to be introduced to the real vampire society and take part in the activities. That also means at the various dinners I had to attend, I had to keep an eye out for a potential mate."

He paused to get a reading on my face, but I was perfectly composed and calm.

"A pureblood can get any woman or man they desire because their at the top. They get first pick. The only rule is that their lover has to be a pureblood. The rule is there to protect the pureblood line. There are only a few pureblood clans left when there used to be hundreds a long time ago. When a purebloods blood line is diluded by human blood, that makes their heir go down in status because the blood has been tainted. And whenever a pureblood does not produce a pure heir, that just makes vampires so much closer to extinction."
