Kaito
....But no, I couldn't use my powers against her.
I had promised her that I would never use them on her. If I did, I would just be giving Kaname another weapon against me. But I couldn't just wait around for him to make his move. I would have to tell Emma and whether she would still love me or hate me----well, that was up to her. Just then I remembered something my mother once told me.
Marrige isn't perfect dear, you have to learn to get around the mistakes your spouse makes. If she really loves you, she won't hate you for admitting the truth.
My mother, Lady Korrina, said those words to me when she began setting me up for potential canidates for my wife. It had only been advice for me to not only accept the most perfect girl. That every person had their flaws and you had to accept them. It seemed like the best advice my mother had ever given me---thinking about it now.
I'd been sitting in my room since the counsil without Emma even knowing. She was still young as a vampire since she had just awoken, so she couldn't smell my blood in the room near-by. I thought it was a miracle that Toran was keeping his mouth shut and not telling her where I was. I figured it was about time that I showed myself.
Standing up from relaxing in my chair by the window, I walked over to the double doors of my room. Emma was sleeping just across the hallway from me. It was a shame to wake her at this hour---and I should realistically be sleeping myself right now---but I needed to tell her right away before Kaname could fill her mind with the wrong ideas. I gently opened my door and stepped into the hallway. I took the four easy steps across the hall and then paused in front of her door.
I shook the second thoughts away and knocked on the door.

Emma
"Emma?...................Emma?" Someone said, trying to rouse me from my sleep.
I was about to choose to ignore it when I realized that it was Kaito's. My eyes flashed open and I went to sit up in bed. While I was under the covers, he was laying on top of them to my left side. I almost blushed, knowing that this was the closest I had ever been to him.
"I'm sorry for keeping you waiting." He said in his honey-sweet voice.
"Where have you been all this time?" I asked, sounding more tired than angry.
"The counsil reached a decision for Zero's punishment." Kaito answered instead."He's been sentanced to whippings for a week, then death."
"That's not fair. He didn't get a fair trial!" I cried out.
"Hey, life's not fair." He shrugged, then added."You can blame Kaname Kuran for the punishment---he was the one who chose it."
