Beam POV

I heard him say he liked me so I was going to talk to him, I forgot I was under a spell, damn that witch. But no, prince charming catches me and his heart is pounding like there is no tomorrow?

"I am sorry." I say quietly, as we both stand. "How clumsy of me."

"No, it's quite alright." He smiles, helping me up.

Smiling are you? We turn as the trumpets are blown and everyone cheers, the official ball has begun. Great joy, three nights of hell have begun, but some people won't last that long. There will be parties and celebrations in the whole city, everyone having a good time. The music starts and people begin to move, either to the side or with their partners onto the dance floor.

"Would you like to dance?" He asks me.

Deep breaths Beam, take it easy and slow. He lied to me I should play with him a little before the inevitable drowning that would come. I smile and accept his invitation, it's not hard to fall into the steps, I taught Yo to dance after all.

"Where have we met before?" He smiles.

He was going to use a pick-up line on me?

"I don't think we have." I replied.

"Your face is beautifully familiar...."

I stepped on his foot, was it really? Liked me but flirting with the first girl that falls on you? I watched as Ming and Kit danced past, both giving Forth glares. We finished the dance and Forth leads me towards the drinks, offering me a glass of champagne. I'm surprised when he doesn't pass out after one, frowning as I take a sip. It's very light, I guess he wasn't used to the high shots at the tavern.

I got the feeling someone was watching me, turning I saw my mother, moving closer towards us and trying to focus on me. The music begins again, I pull Forth to the floor, away from her. This time Pha and Yo waltzed past, but Yo was looking at me curiously.

When Forth tries another line, I step on his foot. He just flinches but doesn't say anything, smiling like a gentleman...why you no good...lying prince.

"Is this your first time at a ball?" He asks.

"Yes." I say. "Three days is a little extravagant."

"My mother's idea." He says. "I hope you will come every night."

Oh really? I stand on his foot again; I'll make sure you can't chase maids or anyone else ever again. This fool would learn.

"I'm sorry I'm not good at dancing."

"Please don't give it a second thought." He smiles. "You are as light as a tree nymph."

I'm as light as...you...I stomp on his foot hard.

"That hurt Beam." He whines but continues dancing.

"You knew it was me?" I snapped.

"I catch you all the time." He grins. "I know what you feel like in my arms."

"You sweet talking bastard." I say in a low voice and stamp on his foot again. "Choose, the champagne fountain or the pond, where do you want to meet your end?"

"Beam let me explain..."

Garden it is. As soon as the music finished I walked towards the doors, as he followed quietly but close behind me. We found a nice quiet place and I turned to look at him, waiting for an answer.
