Bright POV

Phana you bastard, I will find you and I will make you pay. I was only away for a month and everything went crazy. Well, more than normal, we had Gramps and he was the craziest of the lot.

It said a lot when you came back to find the palace in turmoil and it wasn't the old man responsible, and even he skipped the capital what was that evil genius up to?

I look around at the village, it seems lively, now to find my murder victim. But first...I follow the delicious smell of something being baked, it was lunch time and murder required energy. Knowing Phana he would put up a fight. For a small place, they had delicious food, I stand outside in the sunshine and eat.

"Did you forget to look in the mirror?" Someone laughs loudly.

"You shouldn't leave the house looking like that."

"You leave my brother alone!"

I see a little duck...yes it is, sounds like a girl, has a giant axe, and she was protecting a smaller duckling behind her from two large guys. And she was talking?

"We just wanted to talk to him Duckie."

"No you don't!" She shouts. "You always bully my big brother."

"Duckie, it's okay." The small voice said from behind her.

Talking ducks, that's so...magic. One of the guys tries to pick her up, but she swings her axe and he moves away. But that gives the other one a chance; he picks up the little duckling, who flaps his wings trying to get away.

"Let my brother go!" She yells.

He's shaking the little guy, who looks scared.

"Give him to me." I say grabbing his arm. "Now!"

I take the little duckling from him, glaring, I never did like bullies. I see the little guy staring at me with huge cute eyes. Wait, cute eyes! I look away fast, never look at your food, never... I look again when he flaps his wings.

"Can you...put me down please." He says softly.

He's so cute! Well, it's fine; I didn't like duck that much anyway...

"You shouldn't touch strange things." One of them laughs.

Now that I see him close up, he doesn't look like his sister. She had pretty shiny feathers, a long neck and her beak was a different colour. His feathers were dull, his neck shorter and his beak was much darker.

The remark made the duckling look sad. So what if he was a little different didn't mean he was less nice than them. Why did people have to be so mean?

"Don't listen to them." I said patting his head with a finger. "You're cute, in your own way."

He looks up at me, and I'm sure he's blushing. I don't know what possessed me, but I lean down and kiss him on his head.

"You...you...you kissed my brother." The little duck whispers, dropping her axe in shock.

The bullies stand frozen as I set the little guy on the ground. I watch him take his sister's hand and drag her away, waiting to make sure the bullies don't try anything. I should have asked about Phana before they ran off. Damn.

I walk a little and find a man talking to his fish, what's with this village? I see Lam rushing towards a building, I swear and follow, he would know where Phana was.
