Phana POV

"Hey..."

"Watch it..."

"You can't speak to him like that..."

"What are you saying?" I ask her angrily, stepping between her and Yo.

"You may not see it now but when you do it will be too late."

"That's just your opinion, I know what I want." I shout. "Don't put me in the same category as you."

"You're too young to realise what this will mean in the future." She takes my arm firmly. "You had plans, you were going to excel and be what you wanted. But this will ruin everything."

"You have no idea what I wanted."

"I'm your mother, I know...."

"No you don't." I interrupt her. "You left us, and if you really had any idea, you would know all I want is Yo."

"What's so good about that...boy?"

"I love him."

"Don't say foolish things like a child, you need to grow up."

"I did and I made my own choices." I tell her. "I can excel at everything I want and I will do it all with my Yo."

"This is your fault!" She shouts at Yo, moving past me. "Why can't you just get out of his life?"

"That's enough." My father shouts taking her arm and moving her away from us. "Leave the boys alone, they are married and happy..."

"Do you realise?" She shouts at Yo. "The Kongtanin name will end because of you."

"Mother!"

"How dare you..." Uncle Nai stands.

"You need to be very careful how you speak to my son." Aunty Poppy glares.

I knew her words could be cruel, I didn't want Yo to see her but she was being stubborn and stayed. I see Yo's bottom lip tremble, his eyes water...no baby no. I quickly wrap him in my arms, rubbing his back and whispering words of reassurance. When my mother tries moving towards us, Aunt Poppy stops her.

"Why are you defending him?" My mother asks. "He's not even yours."

Everyone can feel the temperature in the room drop, the look on Aunty Poppy's face is pure rage.

"I was being civil; you are still Phana's mother." Her voice is barely controlled. "You outstayed your welcome, get out of my house."

"I'm pointing out the truth..."

"The moment he called me mother, he was mine." Aunty Poppy interrupts. "That's the truth. And if you say anything more to my son, I will break your jaw."

"I want you out of my house." Uncle Nai's voice is calm, but you can see he's angry.

"Phana..."

"Please go mother."

"I tried to help you." She says finally. "Don't blame me later..."

"Not another word." Gramps voice lashes out. "Leave, now."

When she looks like she will say more Aunt Poppy takes mothers arm and escorts' her out, informing Lee to make sure she leaves the village.

"Yo!" I shout when he disappears from my arms.
