summary : in which you underestimate how strong the current is but good thing the incredibly hot lifeguard Ethan is on duty ready to save you.
It was a hot summer day in sunny California and your friends had the idea of going to the beach.
You were a decent swimmer, good enough to be okay if you got a little too deep but you were no Michael Phelps.
"Let's go!" Darlene cheered as she grabbed her towel and dashed to the sand.
You laughed while shaking your head.
"Come on, Susie, you're not gonna get any sun from back there," you laughed getting out of the drivers seat.
Susie groaned getting off of Victoria's lap, "I like it better back here."
After dragging Susie out of the car, you locked your car and walked with Victoria and Susie to meet up with Darlene.
The beach was pretty packed considering it wasn't a gigantic beach.
Darlene was planted next to the lifeguard stand.
"Hurry up slow pokes I wanna swim!" She rubbed the last bit of sunscreen into her skin as she hopped around.
"Are you guys gonna swim?" You asked while taking off your clothes so that you were only in your bikini.
"No!" Susie snuggled into the blanket.
"In a bit, I'm gonna tan for a bit," Victoria smiled doing the same as you.
After you rubbed the sunscreen in you followed Darlene to the water.
"Come on!" Darlene was already in the water splashing around.
"I'm coming, I'm coming," you slowly dipped your feet in. The water was super cold which felt nice considering how hot it was but it was still a little too cold.
You didn't even notice that Darlene was now behind you and she pushed you into the water.
You gasped at the sudden action and playfully screamed at her while splashing water.
She began to swim out deeper so you wouldn't catch her but she was a great swimmer, captain of the swim team. You swam in your shower so when you realized you got caught in the current you were in trouble.
You cursed under your breath as you realized you were getting too deep out.
Suddenly the current dragged you down under the water.
You began kicking and flailing your legs and arms around in an attempt to keep your head above the water.
"Darlene!" You screamed but your mouth was quick to fill with water.
Your mind was screaming nothing but the thought that you were drowning and you were going to die.
It felt like hours before you felt your body giving out on you and suddenly everything went dark.
Ethan's pov :
My feet were up on the table as I yawned.
Being a lifeguard is fun and all, I love the beach and I love saving life's but it does get boring.
Usually I sit here and watching people swim since usually nothing ever happens or I flirt with Bianca in lifeguard stand 8.
My eyes were slowly falling asleep before I caught eye of something odd.
I saw arms flailing around in the air as a head bobbed up and down in and out of the water.
Snatching my binoculars I could see clear as day, a girl was drowning.
Without hesitation I grabbed my bright red flotation device and sprinted for the shore.
"You!" I pointed at a teenage boy standing by the shore.
"Yes??" He was scared as if he'd done something wrong.
"Run to lifeguard stand 8, right there and let them know someone is drowning right now!" I yelled before running into the water.
Within seconds I reached the area that the girl was in but she was no where in sight.
I dove under the water to see that she was starting to sink.
I wrapped my arms around her from behind and pushed my self off of the sand.
She was unconscious meaning I had to get to shore immediately. I used the flotation device to keep her above water as I towed her backwards to shore.
People had caught sight of what was going on and had crowded around the shore.
Bianca was waiting on the shore ready to help but I wasn't focused on her right now.
I laid the victim down on the shore and I shouldn't say this but she was beautiful. Yea I shouldn't say that, this is not the time.
"Did you call the ambulance?" I asked Bianca who nodded quickly.
"(Y/N)!" I heard people began to scream as they attempted to come to her.
"Hold then back!" I yelled at Bianca.
I began checked her airway by looking in her mouth to see if anything was lodged inside which it wasn't.
She wasn't breathing and I couldn't detect a pulse so I began doing chest compressions.
"Come one come on," I muttered to myself as she still failed to wake up.
After 30 chest compressions I proceeded to give her mouth to mouth.
Everyone watched on terrified of the outcome. Her friends cried as they clutched each other closely.
"Come on (Y/N)," I continued on before I felt her body jolt.
She began to cough up water and struggle to find air.
After a minute she finally came to, catching her breath.
"(Y/N), my name is Ethan are you okay?" I held her back keeping her steady.
your pov :
"I'm okay, but you're fineeee," you said groggy. You literally almost died and you decide to flirt with the lifeguard.
He chuckled and helped you up.
"We're gonna take you to the ambulance to check your vitals and make sure everything is functioning properly," he held you by your arm and back.
"Thank you Ethan," you whispered laying your head on his shoulder, exhausted from your near death experience.
"Of course."
That day not only did you defeat death but you also defeated your singleness by earning a hot lifeguard boyfriend.
