summary : In which school is no longer a safe place of learning and you wait out the longest 5 hours of your life in a classroom without your boyfriend.

Seeing that he wrote 'I love you,' the worst possible scenarios started to play in your mind.

The possible image of Ethan staring death in the eye as the shooter points the barrel at him, the possible image of Ethan taking his last breath before the shooter shoots him.

You started sobbing quietly into Diana's side as she tried to calm you down and comfort you.

Trying to text through blurred vision you rapidly began texting Ethan.

"Are you okay? Please Ethan I love you, let's. Me know you re okay," your hands shook out of control.

Tears splattered onto your phone as you tried to understand why anyone would want to come here and cause such distress and fear.

It's been 3 hours and you weren't sure if the shooter was still on campus.

The Swat team, police officers, news casters, helicopters and worried parents waited outside.

The Swat team came in and began searching for the shooter, not letting any students or faculty out of their classes until further notice that the shooter was apprehended.

Your mom, dad, brother, and best friend who went to another school messaged you long paragraphs saying how much they love you and they were probably in the same state you were.

Your tears had subsided a little as your mind grew numb.

Ethan hadn't replied since and your heart was in pieces laying inside of you.

All you needed was to know he was safe.

Out of the blue you heard loud footsteps outside but you knew it wasn't the shooter since it was multiple footsteps.

The Swat team busted down the door and ushered everyone out of the room.

"Come on guys were getting you out of here, it's all over," one of the men said pushing the desks out of the way.

Everyone quickly stood up and you checked your phone to see if Ethan had messaged you, which he hadn't.

Seeing the time you realized you were trapped in here for 5 hours.

5 hours of fear, crying, and utter trauma.

Now the halls sounded of nothing but rushed footsteps from you and your 30 classmates.

The halls were empty besides papers on the floor and dropped supplies. That's when you all turned the corner and saw something you prayed you wouldn't see.

Blood covering the floor as a body cover was thrown over someone, so that we wouldn't see the person.

Gasps and more cries were heard.

You saw the feet of the person and your heart shattered.

It was Mrs. Lisa, the lady in the counseling office. She was always so sweet and caring for every student and everyday she would wear these bright yellow heels that matched her bright personality.

She was always so kind to you.

Your covered your mouth with your hand and began to sob.

She had a family and a husband.

You held onto Diana shutting your eyes from seeing anymore possible bodies.

It seemed like hours before you were met with the bright outdoor light. There was three swat cars, four news casters, 10 cop cars and two helicopters flying above.

Hundreds of family's stood behind the yellow lines crying in fear of seeing their child exit in a body bag.

There was about 100 other students outside, reuniting with their parents and quickly leaving the scene.

The first thought that came to your mind was your family.

Once the cops let you go with your family you ran into the crying crying out for your mom and dad who weren't far away.

"(Y/N)!" they cried running to you like they never have before.

You began sobbing again as you ran to them, getting enveloped into a tight hug.

"Oh my baby," your mom cried holding your tight. Even your baby brother was in tears. This was a moment none of you would forget.

"I'm so glad your safe sweetie," your dad spoke as you felt tears fall onto your head from his eyes.

"Let's hurry and leave," your mom said ushering you all to the car.

"But I don't know if Ethan's safe!" Your lip quivered as your mom wiped your stray tears.

The look on your parents face dropped realizing they hadn't seen your boyfriend leave yet.

"Mom," you reached out to cry into her shoulder as she quickly took you in her arms.

"Shhh, shh, shhh honey I'm sure he's okay," her and your family began to break back into cries as Ethan was practically apart of your family.

After dating for two years, your parents saw him as a son and your brother saw him as the bigger brother he never had.

Also since his family was always gone, your family was his second family.

You broke free from your mothers grasp as you heard more students coming out.

Your eyes frantically searched the crowd for any indication of Ethan's presence.

When your eyes caught sight of a tall, ruffled hair teenage boy with tear streaks dried on his cheeks you let out the held in sob.

It was Ethan.

When the officers let them into the crowd of parents, you and your family sprinted to Ethan.

He had his back facing you as his head looked around.

"Ethan!" You cried out, your voice cracking in the process.

His head whipped around at the sound of your voice and he ran the remaining distance to you. You could practically see the relief in his face.

You held him tighter than you ever had and he did the same.

All that could be heard was the sound of your cries and your family's.

You were glad you two were together and safe, but you two would never be the same individuals and this town would never be the same.

That 5 hours was enough to change everything.
