Brian's POV

Hey, pretty girl,
What's your name, what's your number?

I was visiting the local arcade with my best friend, Sal. I was busy playing on one of those crane games, trying to win myself a Stormtrooper cuddly toy. Hey now, don't judge me okay, those things are cool...to me anyway. As the claw wrapped around my desired prize, I felt an urgent tap at my shoulder, hearing the spluttering of Sal come from beside me.

"Dude! D-Dude!" He exclaimed, trying his best to knock my concentration from the game.

"What is it, Sal?" I questioned. "I need to focus here."

"It's that girl, you know, the one you've been lusting after for however long now." He explained, as I immediately looked up, following his gaze.

Sure enough, across the arcade was the girl that I've been seeing in passing along the street on my way to work most mornings. We often smile at one another, and yet, I still have no idea of her name. "You should go talk to her."

"Oh yeah, because I'm sure she's dying to date a guy who spends his free time in an arcade like some dork." I scoffed, shaking my head, as I returned my attention back onto the machine.

"She's alone, Brian. Now's your chance." Sal expressed, pulling at my shoulders to spin me around to face her.

Before I could even answer him, Sal shoved me forward, sending me stumbling into the girl. I bumped into her, grabbing her by her arm to make sure that she didn't fall flat on her ass. I chuckled nervously, as our eyes met; with the noises circling the building falling silent in my head, as I studied her face. I could feel my heart fluttering in my chest, as she smiled shyly, brushing her hair behind her ear.

"H-Hi," I greeted, hating myself for stammering so hard.

"We really need to stop bumping into each other like this." She laughed, letting the most beautiful sound seep its way into my ears.

"We really do." I chuckled in response, leaning a hand against the side of the air hockey machine beside me, not realising how slippery the surface was, as I fell slightly, attempting to play it cool.

Inside, I was praying that she hadn't seen my fall, but who am I kidding, it happened right in front of her, of course she did. I ran a hand through my hair, clearing my throat, as I tried to distract us both from the incident. "So, what's your name?"

"[Y/N]." She answered quietly.

"I'm Brian." I replied, shooting her a small smile. "Listen, could I...maybe...I don't know, get your number?"

"I thought you'd never ask." [Y/N] smirked, as I handed her my phone, watching, as she tapped her number into the device.

I got the keys to my dad's yellow Hummer.

A small silence came between us, not too awkward, but not exactly comfortable either. I noticed Sal make his way behind her, gesturing for me to talk about something, and bringing me out of my daze. He signalled what appeared to be a steering wheel, as I tilted my head in perplexity, trying to work out what he was trying to tell me. It wasn't until he pointed to the car keys in my hand that the realisation hit me.

"So, I...er, I have my dad's car for the night, since he's away for work." I stated, as [Y/N] locked her gaze onto mine, raising a brow.

"Oh cool," She nodded. "What kind of car?"
