The young man began to hum a happy little song while he imagined his mother, already in front of the stove, kneading the dough for the rolls while also preparing the other products in the different baskets, ready to be moved and sold at the market stand they had for several years.

- "It's already so close to our open hours..." - the young man said in a low voice as he made a brief stop in the middle of the song to observe the sky and especially, how the sun was already rising through the trees - "I have to hurry"

So the boy, without noticing the figure that had stopped a few meters from him and was watching his every move, began to run from the bushes to the trees, picking its fruits and placing them in the basket next to the medicinal herbs that his mother had asked him to recollect too.

Krist did not even want to think about what would happen if the rolls were not prepared on time, especially those that were requested, almost daily, from the kitchens of the palace itself.

Apparently the princesses, and particularly the crown prince, loved to take them during breakfast. So his mother, the only baker who knew the recipe, makes a second batch of them for the Palace. And every morning, while she was going to open their small stand, the young man goes to the inner doors of the palace and deliver the rolls to one of the servants that was specially waiting for them.

- "Finally" - said the young man to himself as he picked up the last piece of fruit.

Again, without realizing that the figure that had been watching him for a while had come even closer to him....

- "Such a beautiful morning, right?" – said a woman's voice behind him.

Krist jumped, almost releasing the basket with the fruits.

And, with a sudden movement he turned around, facing a beautiful woman who, because of her worn clothes, had to be one of the peasants who lived in the village, although the young man was sure that it was the first time he saw her. .

- "Good morning" – said the boy  after recovering from the surprise and with a friendly smile that revealed two cute dimples.

- "Good morning" - replied the woman - "picking fruits?"

Krist nodded as he showed her the basket and its appetizing content.

- "Yes, they are for my mother to prepare her rolls" - he said innocently and with a concerned expression - "and I'm already late. I must go home now!! "

The woman smiled as she nodded and, after letting the boy passed by her side, they both returned to the main road.

- "I heard they are delicious..." - she said as they approached the nearest house.

- "Yep...They are our best-selling product" - he replied with a proud expression just as he reached the threshold of his home.

The young man opened the door and left the sweatshirt and the basket on a chair. After that, he turned to the woman and smiled at her while saying his farewell.

- "Your house, right?" - she asked as she pointed to the small house made of stone and wood.

Krist nodded.

- "Then I will say goodbye here" - said the woman with a smile - "I hope to see you again when I come to town".

- "Of course. I usually go there all mornings" - replied the young man with a smile. Then he watched as the woman gave him a last smile and continued her way to the center of town.

Half an hour later ...

The doors to the royal bedroom opened and a figure dressed in ragged clothes crept in. With a slight glance at the bed she found that his occupant, still deeply asleep from the effects of the narcotic, had not noticed her disappearance.

She quickly went to the dressing room door and proceeded to change clothes. The old rags that had just been removed ended under the underwear that was in a drawer and, dressed now with a suggestive white negligee trimmed in gold, she went to take her place next to her husband before he finally woke up.

The Queen smiled as she noticed how the man, even asleep, put an arm around her waist and pulled her towards him. However, her smile disappeared when she remembered, once again, the young man she had left in front of his house. Especially that beautiful face full of life.

No doubt he was going to be a threat to his daughters, possibly the greatest of all ...

Luckily she had a plan and the perfect person to carry it out. One of her daughters would win the contest, she was sure of that, because she would take care of it herself!.
