Chapter 42

It took us a couple hours more to finish the project completely, but we finally got it over with. I gave Adrian an awkward hug goodbye and walked back to my car. That was the weirdest four hours of my life. I took a deep breathe in and started my car before heading back to my apartment. Once I parked outside of the tall building, I furrowed my eyebrows at the small group of people with cameras in front of the apartments. I closed the car door and kept my head down as they came towards me.

"Nicole where's Shawn?" One of them yelled.

"Nicole how are you?"

"I'm good thanks, just trying to get home." I slightly smiled.

"Where were you Nicole?"

"Nicole!" One of them yelled. They all took pictures with the flash on, not letting me see where I was walking. As I walked, one of them got really close behind me, stepping on my foot and making me fall.

"Woah Nicole are you okay?" One of them said and I stood up, running to the door. I sighed and took the elevator up to my place. It was about ten at night already and all I wanted was my bed, and Shawn, but my pillow will suffice for the next few days. I finally got up to the apartment and walked in to be met with darkness and silence. My brothers were asleep and I walked upstairs, straight to my room. I threw my backpack on the floor and took my bra off under my crewneck before laying down and getting into bed, hugging my pillow under the covers. Today was a terribly long day and I hope tomorrow won't be the same.

I woke up to my phone ringing like crazy. I let out a loud groan and picked up my phone from the side of my desk.

"Hello?" I said in a groggily voice.

"Nicole, are you okay?" I heard Shawn's voice on the speaker.

"Yeah, I was asleep, why?" I checked the time to see it was five in the morning.

"Because I saw that paparazzi was in front of your house and you fell. I'm so sorry."

"Shawn I'm fine, don't be sorry." I sighed.

"I'm sorry I couldn't be there with you." He sounded worried.

"Babe, it's fine, I'm fine, everything is fine. Just try to enjoy your trip, okay?"

"Okay."

"Maybe okay will be our always." I giggled.

"Oh shut up." He chuckled.

"There's that laugh that I missed."

"Do you want to FaceTime tonight?"

"Yeah, I'm free."

"Any plans today?"

"I'll probably text Tanya and see if she wants to hang out or I'll hang with my brothers, we'll see." I sighed. "And you?" 

"Maybe some song writing and we'll see what comes up, we've gotten a lot done since we've been here."

"That's good babe, I'm glad." 

"How'd you sleep." 

"Alright, it's been hard lately I have no idea why. I keep tossing and turning. And you?"

"Oh I'm sorry hun, and alright too. It's hard not having you by my side." 

"Same here Mendes." I said and we both chuckled. "So when do you come back?" 

"Well from here I go to London and then to LA, then back home." He took a deep breathe in.

"This is going to be a long ass month."
