Once we reached the table we were met with Shawn's family and my brothers. Our table had a bayside view and the smell of the food filled the air. Shawn pulled out the chair for me and I sat down before he kissed my forehead, making me smile. He sat down to the left of me while Hunter was to my right. Shawn rested his hand on my thigh while I took the menu into my hands to see what I could order.
"Did the paparazzi bother you guys?" Shawn broke the silence and everyone shook their head.
"No, they just took pictures as usual." Karen shrugged. "And you guys?"
"One of them pushed Nicole." He sighed and they all looked at me.
"Oh hun are you okay?" Karen asked and I nodded.
"Yeah, Shawn caught me before I could fall." I smiled and he tightened his grip on my thigh. We sat in silence and looked through the menus. I decided on ordering a shrimp alfredo and later I helped Hunter pick something out.
"Do you want mac and cheese or chicken tenders?" I asked him and pointed at the kids menu.
"Mac and cheese please." He smiled. I nodded and put the menu down on the table so he could draw on it with the crayons given. Jacob and Aaliyah were the only ones looking at the menu still while Shawn's parents talked and I play tic, tac, toe with Hunter. I turned to Shawn who was staring out into the bay.
"Hey, you okay?" I held his hand and he turned towards me.
"Yeah, sorry." He smiled. "What are you gonna order?"
"Shrimp alfredo, and you?"
"Steak with mashed potatoes."
"Hm sounds good."
"Yeah, I'm starving." Just as he said that our waiter approached us.
"Hello, my name is Will and I will be your sever for this evening. Can I offer you something to drink?" He asked and we each ordered something to drink. I ordered a water just as Shawn did after me and my brothers ordered soda. Aaliyah had ordered iced tea and Shawn's parents ordered two glasses of wine.
"Would you guys like some more time to look over the menu?" Will finished writing down the drinks.
"I think we're ready." Manny smiled and he was the first to order. We went around the table and ordered our food before Will walked away to place our orders. Aaliyah and Jacob began to talk while Hunter drew on his paper.
"So Nicole, how's school going?" Manny asked an I sat up in my seat.
"Pretty well actually, just studying hard."
"You also have a job right?"
"Yes, I work as much shifts at the diner I possibly can."
"That's good, but shouldn't you put your studies first?"
"I do, but I also have to take care of my household."
"I'm glad you're very responsible. Do you know what you would want to study when you graduate?"
"Most likely business, but I might take a gap year to get everything in order." I shrugged.
"Doesn't sound like too bad of a plan, maybe you can even go to Shawn's shows." He smiled and I nodded.
"Very true." I chuckled.
"Where would you want to go if we traveled?" Shawn asked and I furrowed my eyebrows.
"Honestly, I have no clue." I sighed. "Literally we can go into the city and I'll be happy." I said and everyone laughed.
"Don't worry, I'll plan the trip." He smiled.
