February 12
The sound of someone's water bottle falling on the floor woke me from my train of thoughts. I shook my head and watched as our teacher wrote down the formulas for our last set of 1notes. Today mark's the day of my 18th birthday and I had no idea how I was going to celebrate. I had purposely taken the day off so I wouldn't have to work on my day, but I would have to pull extra-shift tomorrow and Sunday. It was finally the last class of the day and I was prepared to pick up my brothers and chill.
"Alright class, since it is almost the end of the day." Ms.Adler said, making me look up from my notes. "I would like to wish Nicole a happy birthday."
Once she said my name, my heart stopped and everyone clapped. Luckily, no one I knew had this class with me except for Bridgette, who plays soccer with me.
I smiled. "Thank you Ms.Adler." She nodded and sat back down at her desk. After I stayed in the hospital with my mom, I went back home with my brothers and Doctor Greene has been updating me as much as he can. She has made so much progress, but she has yet to open her eyes and respond to treatments. I was just glad that she was finally starting to come to.
The bell finally rang and everyone rushed out of the door, to the hallway. The hallway was crowded and I made my way towards the student parking lot. I had my phone in my right hand and my keys in the other, pushing through the large amount of people. Once I got outside I walked to my car and I was met by Adrian's green eyes. He was leaning on my car, holding a sunflower in his hand.
"Birthday girl!" He smiled and opened his arms wide.
"Hey Adrian." I smiled and embraced him in a hug. We have been hanging out a lot recently, as friends, going to the mall and hanging with his group of friends. He had finally made me felt accepted in school. We let go and he handed me the sunflower, making me blush. "Thank you, you didn't have to."
"But I wanted to."
"Thank you, seriously."
Now this probably looks bad, me accepting a flower from someone who isn't Shawn., but Adrian was just my friend. We have grown closer to each other and got passed that night he tried to kiss me. He knows about Shawn and respects our relationship.
"So.. You ready to party?!" He exclaimed as he snapped me out of my thoughts and I furrowed my eyebrows.
"What party?"
"Just be ready by eight and I'll pick you up, wear something nice." He winked and walked away before I could ask any other questions. I got into my car and drove to my brother's school, which was on the route home. I got there in a matter of minutes and they were standing outside of the school, waiting for me to stop in front of them. I stepped on the break, stopping in front of them and unlocked the doors for them to get in.
"Hey brothers." I smiled and they both reached over to hug me. "Woah I'm feeling the love guys."
"You should, it's your birthday." Jacob smiled.
"Happy Birthday!" Hunter yelled, making us laugh.
"Any word from Shawn?" Jacob asked as I drove away from the school.
"Not really, he's probably really busy that's all."
"That's weird."
"It's fine, really." I smiled. "Anyway I guess I'm going out tonight, is it alright if I leave you guys?"
"Of course, have fun sis. Anyway, Hunter always goes to bed early and I stay up." He shrugged.
"But, I am completely free right now." I smiled. "Where should we go?"
