I spent the whole night tossing and turning, clearly receiving the message in Shawn's song. I just hoped he received mine when the Daily Mail News article came out. I turned towards my window, seeing the sun barely coming up. I got up, grabbing my phone and throwing on a sweater so I could go out to the backyard to have a cup of coffee.
I went downstairs and started a pot of coffee before grabbing my laptop and putting on my slippers that were near the stair case. I made myself a cup and went outside, sitting at the table. I opened my laptop, going through my emails and checking who RSVP'ed for the reopening tonight. I took a deep breath in, enjoying the fact we finally had a backyard again.
As I typed out an email to our meat vendor my mom came outside, a cup of coffee in her hands.
"Buenos Días." My mom smiled, sliding the door behind her and coming over to kiss my forehead.
"Hey, did I wake you?" I asked, furrowing my eyebrows.
"No, but I smelled coffee." She smirked and I chuckled, sending one last email before closing my computer. "Feels nice doesn't it?"
"It really does." I sat back and took my mug into my hands. "How'd you sleep?"
"Like a rock, and you?" She asked and I shrugged.
"I kept tossing and turning all night." I shook my head, taking a sip of my coffee.
"How come?"
"I couldn't stop thinking." I sighed.
"About Shawn?" She questioned and I looked at her, nodding in defeat.
"His album came out last night, he wrote a song about me."
"Good or bad?"
"I really don't know." I shrugged. "All I know is that he was trying to say what he felt, and I clearly received it."
"Look Nicole, I'll say this again," She began and held my hand in hers. "If he was really yours, he'll come back to you, and if he isn't, life goes on."
I nodded in acceptance and kissed her hand before we finished our coffee and went back inside to make some breakfast. My mom made some chilaquiles, I helped her shred some cheese and cut the tortillas while she made the salsa.
"Go get your brothers, it's almost ready and I don't want it to get cold." She smiled and I nodded. I went upstairs, knocking lightly on Hunter's door and walked in to see him sprawled out in his bed, half of his blankets on the floor.
"Goodmorning bug a boo." I said and he rubbed his eyes, yawning. I sat down next to him and he crawled up next to me, wrapping his arms around my body. "Mom made breakfast, it's time to get up."
"I'm tired." He groaned and I chuckled, beginning to tickle him as he laughed. "Okay i'm up!"
I laughed and stood up, "Come one, piggy back ride." He excitedly nodded and got on my back, his hair all over the place as we went downstairs. I set him down at the table, my mom serving him some food before I went to Jacob's room. I knocked on his door and opened it to surprisingly see him up playing video games.
"Of course you're playing." I chuckled, crossing my arms.
"I've been up all night and I've almost reached the end of the game." He said and I turned it off, causing him to throw his hands up in the air and groan.
"Mom made breakfast, and you better take a nap before tonight."
"I will." He got up and followed me to the kitchen. We all sat down, taking a look at the delicious food and diving in. We spent the rest of the morning cleaning the house up a bit and later getting ready to go to the diner so we could set up the decorations for later today.
