After making dinner for my brothers and leaving it on the stove, I left the apartment with my things in my hand, making my way to the hospital. It was still early, the sun was still out and there was a slight breeze in the air. Driving to the hospital wasn't a hassle like usual at these hours and I got there in a matter of minutes. I parked my car in the visitor parking lot, grabbing a parking ticket before heading up to the wing my mom was held in. I greeted a few people who have known me since my mother has been in this hospital and received some stares from some girls who were volunteering at the hospital. I walked down the halls and made it to my mom's room to see they had already put the small cot in front of her bed.

I put down my things and sat down on the bed, bringing my backpack up to legs and taking out my homework. I took out my reading glasses and started to do my AP Language homework. I went through all my notes and began to create flashcards along with answering the thirty comprehension that was assigned on Friday. After two hours of working on English I finally moved on to study for my AP Physics class.

"Linear Momentum." I sighed and began to solve some problems when my phone began to ring. I picked up my phone from in front of me to see Shawn facetiming me. I smiled and answered, resting the phone in front of me on my backpack.

"Hey." I smiled and he was laying in his bed with his shirt off.

"Hey cutie." He flashed me a warm smile as he rubbed his eyes. "Since when do you have glasses?"

"They're just reading glasses since I'm studying."

"You look good with them on." He yawned. "A cute nerd."

"What time is it over there?" I rolled my eyes.

"Around twelve in the morning." He chuckled.

"Jeez you should be asleep."

"Yeah, but I want to talk to you." He said making me blush. "Where are you by the way? Doesn't look like your room."

"I'm at the hospital."

He furrowed his eyebrows and sat up a little bit. "Why? Are you okay? Everyone okay?"

"Yeah we're all fine, my mom moved her hand a bit today and I just wanted to stay with her just in case."

"That's good progress though right?"

"Yeah it is great."I shrugged.

"What's wrong hun?"

"Nothing." I shook my head and scribbled in my notebook.

"Talk to me Nicole."

"I don't know I just get so frustrated I guess that she isn't here and she won't wake up. I get frustrated that I can't do anything else to help her. I miss her and not being able to talk to her about what is happening in my life." I sighed and took off my glasses. "I just need her so much sometimes because I feel so incapable of doing things."

A tear rolled down my cheek and I quickly wiped it away before he could speak.

"Nicole." He sighed. "Just have faith, trust me she's going to wake up no matter what and you'll have your mom back in no time."

"I do have faith, I'm just- I don't know." I sniffled as I looked down at my legs.

"You know I love you right?"

"I love you too Shawn."

"I wish you were here with me."

"I wish I was with you too."

"Why don't I just fly you over here." He groaned and I chuckled as he stuffed his head into his pillow.

"Because I have school, work, and my family."
