I woke up to the sun shining strongly on my room and I suddenly smelt the smell of food fill the whole apartment. I grabbed my phone from my desk, checking to see that it was nine in the morning. I checked my text messages and any emails I had from school, responding to my messages.

I got up from bed, stretching my whole body and I walked over to the bathroom to do my business and brush my teeth. Afterwards I took my phone downstairs, hoping to see my two brothers cooking and messing around, but instead I was met with my mom's back. I made it down the stairs and walked over until she heard me and turned around.

"Goodmorning." She smiled. "I made you guys eggs, bacon, beans, hash browns, and of course, waffles."

I nodded resting my phone on the counter top as she continued to cook, confused as ever.

"So is this how it's going to be from now on?" I asked and she stopped, taking a deep breath in.

"I'm sorry Nicole, this last week I know I have been immature and it took you yelling at me to notice. It shouldn't be that way, I know that now. I'll try more, I promise, I won't go back. I understand now that I am your mom and I need to take charge."

I walked over to her and wrapped my arms around her waist, resting my head on her back.

"We love you mom and we support you." I let a deep breath out. "I'm glad you came to your senses."

"Thank you, now wake up your brothers so we can eat. I may have been in a coma, but I damn sure didn't forget how to cook." She said and I chuckled, running upstairs to knock loudly on my brother's door. I walked in to see Jacob with his pillow on his head and Hunter sprawled out on his bed. I smiled, jumping on Jacob's bed to lay on top of him, making him groan.

"It's too early." He said and hugged his pillow/

"No it's not, get up, breakfast is ready."

"It smells good what did you make?" He turned to face me and he wiped his eye.

"Mom made breakfast."

"Seriously?" He raised his eyebrows and I nodded.

"Yeah so come on, family breakfast." I messed his hair up, getting up to wake up Hunter who was still knocked out. I began to tickle him and he laughed, getting on my back so I could carry him downstairs. We all ran downstairs, both of them taking a seat at the table while I helped my mom serve plates. This was unbelievable to say, but it did feel like old times when we would sit around the table, eating, and laughing about the past week that had just happened. It was always a Sunday ritual, eat a good breakfast, hang out together, church, and then come back home to eat dinner together and watch movies.

"Is church at the same time?" My mom broke the silence and Jacob and I stared at each other.

"We actually stopped going to church." I sighed, putting down my fork.

"Why mija? You always loved going."

"Well after everything happened it felt different, I got too busy, and we kind of just pushed it aside." I explained to her.

As I said that she nodded, accepting what I said and responded, "I understand, but we will start going soon, not today, but soon, maybe."

"Okay." I nodded, continuing to eat. Once we finished eating, we all ran upstairs to get ready for the day. I took a quick shower, changing into a pair of jeans and a white top with little flowers on it. I allowed my hair to air dry while I put on some makeup to cover the bags under my eyes. As I applied the final touches I heard my door room open and I peaked out of the bathroom to see my mom wearing jeans and a gray knit sweater.
