I sighed, shutting my car door and walking to the small restaurant in front of me. One of the workers opened the door, allowing me to walk through and meet with the hosts at the front who were greeting everyone.
"Hi how are you?" The young woman asked and I smiled, responding.
"Good and you?"
"Good thank you, how can I help you tonight?"
"I believe the reservation is under Shawn Mendes." I said and she smiled, grabbing a menu from the counter top.
"Yes, follow me this way."
I followed behind her, walking through the dining room floor that was dimly lit and filled with well dressed people. I was wearing a red floral dress I bought the other day and a pair of open toed heels along with a small clutch and my beige coat. I tucked a strand of my hair behind my ear, taking a deep breath in and letting it out once I saw Shawn with a smile on his face, feeling a sense of relief wash over me.
I smiled as the host left the menu on the table and walked away while I reached out to Shawn, hugging him tightly. I let go of him and placed a passionate kiss on his lips, not wanting to stop.
"I missed you." I rested my forehead on his.
"Me too, God you look gorgeous." He twirled me around and I bit my lip, giggling. He took off my coat for me, pulling out the chair for me so I could sit, my coat hanging behind me.We sat down across from each other and he held my right hand in his.
"How have you been love?" I asked him and he smiled, caressing my hand.
"I've been good, only missing your face ever since I came back."
"It's been a long week."
"That it has." He nodded and I sighed, looking down at the table.
"How's your family? Are they happy you got back sooner?" I asked him and he adjusted himself in his seat.
"Yeah this whole week we've been spending time together, just hanging out. I'm actually glad I came back sooner."
"That great, I'm happy for you guys."
"And your parents?"
"You know my dad, working, and my mom always worrying, especially about you actually." He added.
"Tell her not to worry, I'm fine." I smiled. "And your sister, didn't she have a hockey tournament this week?"
"Yeah, she was so happy that I was there, they won and she's excited they're going to the finals."
"That's great! I bet she's kicking everyone's ass." I giggled.
"You know it. She actually shoved a girl out on the ice because she back talked her." He chuckled and I did the same, my jaw dropping. "Now what I want to know is how my beautiful girlfriend is."
"I'm alright." I shrugged and he shook his head, not accepting my response.
"Come on Nicole, talk to me, how's everything with your mom?" He seemed worried. Well what can I say?
"It's good, this week has felt like the longest week of my life. School and work back to back and then getting home to see a huge mess everywhere."
"A huge mess?" He furrowed his eyebrows.
"Since I'm not there my mom kind of took over, she hasn't been much help, and she spends most of her time in her room in the dark. Or if she does come out of the room, see leaves a mess everywhere."
