Chapter 31

I got home around 12 due to the fact that Mike wanted me to take inventory for things at the diner. Once I finally made it upstairs I walked into my room and threw myself onto my bed. I groaned and faced toward the ceiling as I took off my shoes with the tip of my feet. Luckily I didn't have any homework since it was a Monday and the teachers wanted to get everything situated. I looked at my phone and I had no new texts except for a text from Tanya. I opened my phone and clicked on the phone icon. I placed my finger on Shawn's contact, hesitant to call, but I finally gave in.

Two rings

Nothing

Three rings

Voicemail

"Please leave a message after the tone." The robotic voice said and the tone went off.

"Hey, um, I guess your mad at me huh? I'm mad at myself too. Shit, I really don't know what to say. Look, I'm sorry, but nothing happened between me and that asshole. That guy was lying because he tried to get at me when you were gone and I didn't let him. Please Shawn I am so so sorry. Anyways, you probably don't want to be hearing my voice right now so I'll spare you that."

I hesitated before saying something I never knew I could say in my life. Something I haven't said to anyone ever since my parents. This feeling was gone just as my dad was, just as I felt my mom was, but somehow Shawn made it come back.

"I love you Shawn Mendes." I said into the phone and hung up. I took a deep breath in, closing my eyes and laying back down on my bed. I really just said that and I truly don't regret it. Who knew that Nicole Ortega, the senior class slut, would be able to love someone. I do love him and as I say that to myself I get butterflies in my stomach. Although it has been a month, he has shown me the positives things in life and has shown me that I can be me for once. He is the light in my life, let's hope I didn't ruin it.

I got into my bed and set my alarm on my phone. After staring up at the ceiling for a couple minutes I felt myself falling into a deep sleep.

"I love you Shawn Mendes." 

She loves me. She loves me! I forgot about everything that happened and grabbed my car keys, racing to Nicole's apartment. I still had the keys to the apartment and once I got there I ran upstairs and opened the door quietly, so I wouldn't wake her brothers. I walked upstairs to her room and opened the door only to see Nicole asleep in her bed. I took off my shoes and crawled into bed with her. I caressed her hair as I heard slight snores escape her mouth.

"Nicole." I said and she furrowed her eyebrows in her sleep. I placed kisses on her cheeks, forehead, and finally her lips until she woke up.

"Shawn?" She squinted her eyes and sat up. "What time is it?"

"Around two in the morning." I chuckled and she rubbed her eyes.

"What are you doing here? I thought you were mad?"

"I was an idiot, I'm so sorry. I didn't even stay to hear you side of the story." I said and held her hands in mine.

"No I'm sorry Shawn I didn't even say anything to that guy." She shook her head.

"I heard your voicemail."

"You did?" She furrowed her eyebrows and I kissed her.

"I love you too Nicole Ortega." I said and kissed her again. We kissed until I was hovering over her, my right hand on her waist and my left on her cheek. I lifted up the hoodie she was wearing until she took it off. I took off my shirt while she took off her tights. Before we knew it our clothes were on the floor.
