Chapter 49

"Hunter, Jacob! Breakfast is ready!" I yelled as I set the plates down on the table. I grabbed some napkins as I heard them walk down slowly and they both sat down.

"Goodmorning sleepy heads." I chuckled and messed up Jacob's hair after putting the napkins in front of them.

"It's too early." He groaned and I sat down with them.

"I have work at eight and I wanted to eat with you guys." I smiled and he nodded. We pretty much ate in silence, since they were both really tired and once we finished I placed all of the plates in the sink while they went back upstairs to sleep. I packed my bag with my things and went upstairs to change into some jeans, my work polo, and a jacket. I put my hair up into a pony tail before grabbing my phone from my desk and heading downstairs.

"I'll see you later guys! Don't open the door unless it's Shawn!" I opened the door and closed it behind me once I heard Jacob respond. I checked my phone to see if Shawn had texted me, but there was nothing. I sighed, walking down to the parking garage and got into my car. I started the engine and drove over to the diner, making it in under fifteen minutes. I parked my car and walked inside, taking my jacket off and putting it on the coat rack.

"Hey Nicole." Veronica smiled and I gladly returned one back.

"Hey Vero, how are you?"

"I'm great and you, working hard or hardly working?"

"Please you always know I work nonstop." I chuckled and walked over to the lockers, placing my bag inside of mine. I clocked in before grabbing my apron and tying it around my waist, placing my notepad and pencil in my front pocket. I grabbed one of the rags and began to clean up some tables while others ate. Luckily Mike wasn't going to show his face today and I was glad he wasn't going to be here bossing us around. The diner was pretty quiet today, only a couple of people coming in at different times. Veronica clocked out at around ten and that left Manny and I until our shift ends at two.

"Manny I'll be back, I'm going to go check something." I smiled and he nodded. I walked to the lockers and unlocked my locker to see if Shawn had called or texted me. I turned on my phone and no notification came up. I locked my locker and made my way back out, seeing that two more people had sat down. I grabbed two menus and walked over to their table, placing them in front of them. They both had their hoods up and I furrowed my eyebrows, but I shook it off.

"Goodmorning, my name is Nicole and I'll be your server for today, can I get you started with anything to drink?" I asked and they all put their hoods down, making my jaw drop.

"I'll take an iced tea please." Shawn smiled.

"And I'll take a hot chocolate." Aaliyah giggled.

"Aw guy what are you guys doing here!" I smiled and hugged Aaliyah and Shawn.

"We wanted to eat breakfast and I couldn't think of a better place." He shrugged and I kissed him.

"Ew." Aaliyah said and we both laughed.

"Thank you guys for coming, I'm so happy you guys are here."

"It's no problem, if anything this helps me shut him up because Shawn is constantly talking about you."

"Hey! you talk about her too."

"Not as much as you brother." She said and we both chuckled.

"Alright, I bet you guys are hungry, Shawn same thing as always?"

"Yes please." He smiled.

"And Aaliyah, what do you feel like having?"

"I'll take some waffles and eggs with hashbrowns please." I wrote it down and took their menus before placing the order with Manny. I prepared the hot chocolate and grabbed the iced tea before heading over to give it to Shawn.
