Chapter 75

We got out of the car, walking up to the venue that was nicely decorated with gold and white balloons and bright lights. We took pictures outside, where it looked like a mini red carpet event and I began to feel insecure as people began to stare at both Shawn and I. I pulled at my dress, covering myself with my arms and walking slowly behind Shawn, my confidence left behind at his house.

"What's wrong Nicole?" He furrowed his eyebrows as he saw that I was uncomfortable.

"I feel weird." I shrugged, shaking my head as we waited in line to get in.

"What do you mean?"

"I don't know, I feel like everyone is just staring." I sighed.

"Nicole, let them stare, you are the most beautiful girl here, everyone should see that." He smiled and placed a kiss on my forehead as we walked up to greet some faculty who were giving out the purple wrist bands to get in. After the purple bands were wrapped around our left wrists, we walked into the venue to be met with loud music and beautiful decorations. It looked like a starry night, seeing as the theme was A Night in the Clouds. There were paper like stars hanging from the ceiling along with clouds and lights the changed colors. It was all just aesthetically pleasing to the eye.

Shawn held my hand tightly as we walked towards an empty table where we could all sit down together. They served us all food first before the actual dance could begin, playing classical music in the back ground.

"Don't forget to place your votes for Prom King and Queen, as well as prom court!" Principal Chambers interrupted the music as he spoke into the mic.

"Okay, I'm totally going to go vote for you guys." Tanya stood up and pulled Jason up from his seat.

"Oh God, Tanya sit down." I shook my head.

"You'll thank me later miss thang." She blew a kiss towards me and I rolled my eyes as she walked away. Shawn chuckled and we continued to eat in silence, making small talk with Adrian who was eyeing a girl sitting at a different table.

"Just go talk to her Adrian." I snickered and he stopped looking at her so he could turn to face me.

"I can't." He shook his head.

"At least ask her to dance later, I bet she won't say no."

"Maybe." He shrugged and I nudged his shoulder, making him grin. The waiters took our plates from our tables, Shawn talking to people who would constantly come up to him to ask for pictures. I stared at my phone and took it in my hands, looking through the pictures we took at Shawn's house and choosing one of my favorites which was the one where Shawn was holding my left leg up and arching my back so I was dipped. He was kissing me in the picture and I smiled, making it my new wallpaper. I felt Shawn place his hand on my thigh and I looked up at him, putting my phone down on the table.

We saw a bunch of people head towards the dance floor and I nodded as I saw Shawn just staring at me. "Ayy Ladies" by Travis Porter and Tyga was playing. I was laughing as Shawn took my hand and lead me to the dance floor. Our friends followed behind us and we made it to the middle of the crowd, dancing to the beat of the song.

I had my back pressed against Shawn's hips as he held me in his arms and I swayed my hips, feeling his body sway with mine. He spun me around when the song changed and took my hands in his so we could dance face to face.

A few songs in we were already sweating like crazy from jumping up and down. I laughed as I tripped over my feet and Tanya went wild in front of Jason. I looked over my shoulder to see that Adrian wasn't with us anymore, but instead he was talking to the girl at the table. I smiled and went back to dancing with Shawn once "Locked Out of Heaven" by Bruno Mars started playing.
