I hopped of my mongoose, dusting off sand and digging it out of my armor.
'I remember why I hated this place.' I thought.
'Well, this is a particularly hot desert.' Tau thought.
'Thanks for that bit of information.' I thought sarcastically, making my way over to the others who were getting out of their warthogs.
"This where you found the body?" Carolina asked Wash.
'Wait... are they here for?....' I thought sadly, my hand touching my pocket that held Connie's last gift to me. My fake identity.
"Yep, she's right up there." Wash said.
"We'll see. Take me there. Sync." Carolina said, walking away.
'I'm not going after them, I would rather not see CT's lover's dead body.' I thought.
'Agreed. I also do not think they will find much.' Tau responded, 'I remember running a scan of that body and finding a nearly destroyed drive. I extracted its information but it wasn't anything we didn't already know.' Tau thought.
'Oh, well, good.' I thought.
"Sync." Wash said, running after Carolina.
"Automatic dishwasher." Caboose replied, making me roll my eyes as I went to stand by Tucker.
"Man, where was this chick when we had that awesome tank? Bitches love tanks!" Tucker said.
I smacked him particularly hard on the back of the head.
"Hey! Cut it out! I'm here too and geez does that hurt!" Church said, appearing on Tucker's shoulder as Tucker rubbed his head.
I tapped my foot, arms crossed as I stared down Tucker.
"Fine, alright, you know me, I make comments, can you please stop hitting me?" Tucker said.
I shrugged, guessing that it was the best I was gonna get.
"I don't get it. What is she looking for?" Church said, looking in the direction they went.
'Church, you idiot, they are trying to find the director. You even heard Carolina say that. Except, they don't have much to go on. Even I, with all the information I have extracted over time, do not have anything on the director. Not a thing.' I thought.
'Yes, we have probably half of all of Project Freelancer's information on that chip. It's what I use to entertain myself when things are boring, reading through the organized files is therapeutic.' Tau thought.
'I am not surprised.' I replied.
"You tell me! I don't know half of what's happening these days. You found me here remember?" Tucker said.
"Oh yeah! You were actually kind of a badass that time." Church said.
'I can't deny, he kind of was.' I thought.
"Dude, I'm kind of a badass, all the time! You guys just happened to notice it then." Tucker said.
"Ah, that's not true. I never noticed it." I suddenly heard Caboose say, making me look at him and smirk, shaking my head. Gotta love Caboose's innocent comments.
'Ya, sorry, Tucker, you were a badass here in the desert but not really anywhere else.' I signed.
Tucker glared at me.
"Look, the point is she's not telling us everything. I just don't understand why." Church said.
'That's because she is totally pissed off a believes you are all useless.' I thought.
