" When someone else's happiness is your happiness, it is love. But is love even real? "
Lana thought she found the love of her life, but it looked like things were getting rocky from there. Will their relationship survive? Or...
A few hours had passed since Billie had messaged me. It was early in the morning when I finally got out of bed to watch the sunrise. The day was supposed to be beautiful, and I was really looking forward to it.
I sat on one of the chairs on the balcony and grabbed my phone. I had left Billie on read—practically freaking out when she messaged me.
I looked to my right and saw that the whole apartment was a mess from the night before, so I decided to clean it up before everyone woke up. After tidying up, I got myself ready to head to the store for breakfast.
It was a clear but chilly morning, so I put on my flared black pants, a yellow sweater, and my black beret. The outfit came together perfectly, and I couldn't resist taking a quick picture for Instagram.

It didn't take long for Billie's comment to appear—literally two minutes after I posted the picture. She clearly wanted me to reply, and I should have, but in situations like this, my anxiety tends to mess with my head. I decided I'd respond after breakfast.
At the store near the entrance, I found myself overthinking everything—again. Anxiety really is my worst trait. While grabbing pancake mix, strawberries, and muffins, I kept replaying everything in my head. Back at the hotel, I baked the pancakes and set the table.
Then, two arms wrapped around my waist from behind. "Lana, I'm so tired," Kate's groggy voice filled the room.
"Good morning to you too," I chuckled. "What a night... I had way too many glasses of wine." "Yeah, I could tell. I got us breakfast. Maybe it'll help with your hangover."
We both sat down and poured ourselves some orange juice.
"Do you think I should message Billie back?"
Kate looked at me with a mouth full of pancakes and smirked. "That's an insane question, YES. And also- if you want some-."
I interrupt her "That wasn't the question, but thanks. I forgot you have an insane sex drive." I roll my eyes, laughing.
Lily emerged from her room, clearly just woken up—hair in knots, cheeks flushed.
I finally sent the message:
@lanabanana – Gmorning! I'm so sorry—yesterday we had too much wine and I fell asleep before I could reply. I hope you have a wonderful day today 🌞
She didn't take long to respond. My cheeks flushed the moment I read her message:
@billieeilish – Mornin'. Ok cool. Meet me around two at the Rose Garden. I don't take no for an answer.
I lock my phone and turn to my friends, who were still enjoying breakfast. "Guys, I'm gonna have to ditch you for an hour or so."
"Where you going to?" Lily asks.
"You're not going to believe this... Billie asked me to meet her."
"YASSS girl. Go. For. It," Kate said, snapping her fingers sassily at me. "What time?" "In like... an hour." I look at the clock.
"Grab your bag and get your ass on that bus," Lily says, collecting the dishes. I jump up from the table, more excited than I had been all weekend. I pack my backpack with everything I need and walk back into the living room.
"I'll see you guys at the festival later?"
"Unless you're too busy making out with Billie," Kate teases. Her damn sex drive again.

On the bus, I check my phone—nothing from Billie yet. About 20 minutes later, I arrive at the festival grounds, had my wristband scanned, and headed inside. It was even busier than the day before. Searching for the Rose Garden made my anxiety spike—I hate large crowds. Still, the vibe is amazing. People are dancing, laughing, singing, some obviously high from weed or anything else. I stop at a food truck and buy myself a Diet Coke. That's when my phone buzzes—a notification from Instagram.
@billieeilish – i am here. @lanabanana – almost.
I speed up my pace, nearly sprinting once I spot the Rose Garden. My wristband gives me access, I rush inside. I want to fix my hair and put on some lipstick, but I don't have any time.
There she was—Billie. Standing a few feet away, surrounded by what looks like her crew, her brother, and her mom. She is in a red outfit with black Jordans and white sunglasses, talking loudly to someone nearby. People pass by, unsure if it was really her.
Lana, go say hi.
I take a deep breath and count down from one to ten. As I walk toward her, she notices me almost immediately.
"Lanabanana," she says, grinning. "Billie Eilish..." My cheeks turn red as she pullesme in for a hug. She smells like vanilla baked cookies. Her hair so soft. I wish I could've stay in this hug forever.
"What an honor to meet you like this," I say, nervously playing with my nails. "Dude, don't get all weird on me. Just treat me like a normal person," she laughs and almost begs, motioning for me to come meet the others.
"This is Finneas, my mom Maggie, and those two big guys—basically always around to keep me safe. Don't mind them." She patts them on the shoulders with a laugh. I went in for a handshake, but everyone hugs me. Apparently, i am way too polite for this group.
Billie whispers something to her mom, and Maggie nods. "We'll see you in about an hour. Just stick around, okay?" Maggie kisses Billie on the cheek and walks off with the rest of the crew.
Billie turns to me. "Let's go explore the Rose Garden." I agree, and we start walking. Its stunning—freshly planted roses, soft lights twinkling in the trees. She sat down on a bench, gazing out at the garden, and I join her, blushing again from anxiety just being near her.
She looked incredible in red. Intimidating, but also vulnerable now that she wasn't surrounded by people. She rested her arms along the back of the bench and took off her sunglasses.
"So... not many friends. Was that just an excuse, or?" I ask, nervously twirling my hair.
She shrugs, then smiles. "There's something about your vibe. I noticed it right away—at the Ferris wheel and during my show."
"From like... two seconds?" I ask in disbelief.
"You're a curious, clever one, huh?" she says, locking eyes with me. I blush again, and a grin spread across her face.
She leans in slightly, her gaze soft but intense. "Don't you think we should get to know each other better? That'd be fun, wouldn't it?"
