Ciel's POV
My days have become a lot more bearable without paperwork. A lot more fun actually. I get to be with my children, my cousin and my lover.
I should have done this years ago.
"Mama, is it a boy or a girl."
"I don't know yet sweetheart, what do you want them to be?" Astre's expression turns to one of childish decision making as he stares at my abdomen with sudden determination.
"A sister! Little sister." I can feel my expression soften as I gaze into the big baby blue eyes of my gorgeous son.
Lady Phantomhive.
Countess Phantomhive.
I can see them now, my Eliza taking my place as the Countess of the Phantomhive Estate. My son and daughter ruling by her side.
You see, earldom is a lonely profession with money as our only reward. I wouldn't wish this upon any child. That's why, I'm going to teach them together. No special treatment for Astre, no sewing classes for the girls, if this is a girl.
Loneliness is solved through family. I learned that lesson the day I bumped my head against Sebastian's chest at my bedroom door. My family has kept me sane.
He kept me sane, all these years.
To have my children work hand in hand? That would be the greatest future I could dream of for them.
"I'm not entirely sure what I would want.
I suppose a sister would be nice. After all, Astre is quite the rascal." Eliza sits down on the seat beside me, her relaxes smile warming my heart.
They truly feel happy here.
"I definitely cannot argue with that." Sebastian announces to our daughter as he waltz's into the room, fidgeting with a familiarly dread inducing envelope neatly pressed between two fingers. "Ciel, the Queen has sent a letter. Would you like to come to the office and read it?"
He keeps being incredibly responsible, and I always thought he was the one to keep me on my toes.
I suppose my job never leaves me for too long.
"Of course. Sorry my darlings, I'll be back soon." They reach over to press into my body whichever way they could, which caused me to be subsequently stabbed by my son's adorably pointy chin.
Luckily, I'm unable to feel most of the pain. Hopefully birth will be a similar way.
Regretfully, I leave my children under the watchful eyes of Elizabeth as I follow my fiancé into my office across the hall.
"I took a look, she wants you to track down a 'baby farm' and scout out the goings on of the owner Amelia Dyer."
"This is...is the orphanage almost refurbished?"
"Ciel, it was a very old building-"
"Is there at least one room completed?"
"By the time we make it to her property in London we'll have two rooms with six bunks and six cribs in each. But I have spares if...if we need them."
"If the Queen is right about this woman...we'll need them."
"Ciel-" Sebastian's voice wavers in concern, clearing his throat to conceal what I have already noticed.
"Yes?"
"Are you sure you're willing to go in there. It doesn't feel right to place my pregnant partner into the hands of an alleged serial killer who goes after babies."
"I will be fine Sebastian. Besides, you'll be right beside me." His arms wrap around my waist, body pressed against my back, hands caressing my abdomen with care.
"How do you want to do this?"
"We pretend to be young, inexperienced people who fooled around and can't handle the consequences. She'll be more interested in me than in you, you'll be able to scout the place and determine the condition of the children."
"If they're poorly?" I imagine the horror of the house we plan to enter, dying babies who have lived a life of sorrow and death. Children starved to skeletons and a smiling woman eager to rip the child from my womb. Only to have it suffer the same fate at her hands.
"We kill the bitch."
