1 - Executive Assistant

Emily looks around the Alcaraz mansion while she waits for Don Jose Alcaraz, the chairman of Alcaraz Group of companies. Today is her first day at work as the old man's executive assistant.

The Alcaraz mansion is located at the south part of Luzon while she lives in the northern part. Don Jose Alcaraz offered her to live in his mansion so she will not encounter the hassle of traveling from north to south and vice-versa. JAC offers a tempting compensation plus the free accommodation so she did not have second thought of accepting the offer.

"Who are you?" she heard someone asked. She looks at the person who owns the voice and found a tall and handsome bedimpled man in his black suit. She knows this man in front of him, he is Jose Gabriel Alcaraz, the eldest grandson of Don Jose Alcaraz and the current president of Dynamic Bookstore commonly known as DBS. It is one of the biggest bookstores in the country.

"Good morning, Sir." Emily greeted. "My name is Emily Fernandez," she said and offer her hand for a handshake, but Gab only looks at it.

"What are you doing here?" Gab authoritatively asked.

"The chairman asked me to meet him here. I am his new executive assistant," Emily replied.

"I don't believe you. My grandfather will not ask our employees to come and meet him here at this early. You are way ahead of the official working hours, Ms. Fernandez," Gab uttered. "Also, I haven't seen the appointment paper of my grandfather's new executive assistant. Therefore, how dare you claim that you already got the position?" he fiercely asked.

"But that was the message I received from the Office of the Chairman," Emily said.

"Who lets you in?" Gab asked. "You are not supposed to come inside the house. You should be waiting for my grandfather outside," he uttered.

"Your maid allowed me to come inside and wait for the chairman. I did not know about your houserule about accepting unknown guest. Perhaps you should remind her about that rule. It is no big deal if I wait for the Chairman outside. Good day, Sir," Emily said then pick-up her luggage and walks to the door.

"Where are you going, Emily?" she heard the Chairman asked before she reaches the door.

"Good morning, Mr. Chairman," Emily greeted.

"Good morning," Don Jose greeted back. "Saan ka pupunta?" he asked.

"Sa labas po, bawal daw pong maghintay dito sa loob ang mga hindi ninyo kilala," Emily replied.

"Ako ang nag-utos sa maid na papasukin si Emily dito sa loob, Gabriel," Don Jose said.

"Who is she, Lolo?" Gab asked.

"She is my new executive assistant," Don Jose replied.

"Hindi pa dumadaan sa office ko ang appointment ng executive assistant mo, Lolo. Why did you hire her na hindi ko pa sya naiinterview?" Gab asked.

"She is employed under JAGC, Gabriel. Hindi nya kailangan dumaan sa iyo for interview," Don Jose explained.

"Ikaw lang ang nag-interview sa kanya?" Gab asked.

"Fred recommended her, and I trust his judgement. Besides, Emily has an impressive credentials. And I see no reason why I should not hire her," Don Jose replied.

"Kahit recommended sya ng dating executive assistant mo, Lolo, you still do not know her," Gad said.

"Do you think she did not pass through background investigation? Call the JAC HRD-Head and tell her that I am allowing you to see Emily's 201 file if you don't believe me. I am not that dumb, Gabriel. I know our company's protocol." Don Jose said.
