49 - Coffee Date

Unknown to each other, Gabriel and Emily are both excited on the coffee date of Riel and Lily. Gabriel leaves his office an hour before the end of their official working hours.

He was truthful when he told Elizabeth that he wants to prepare for his appointment on Friday night. For several days, he has been tossing between telling Emily the truth or not. But he does not want to keep Riel's identity from Emily anymore, so he chooses the Riel and Lily meet-up.

Lily prefers to meet Riel only within DBS vicinity. In fact, the coffee shop they decided to meet is just few meters away from the DBS office. Therefore, Gabriel arrived at the coffee shop two hours before the exact time of Riel and Lily's meet-up. It was him who suggested an unpopular coffee shop for their meeting place to ensure that the place will not be filled with customers once he reveals to Emily the truth about Riel.

Gabriel even talked to the coffee shop manager to close the shop once Emily arrived and he pays the whole day rent of the coffee shop despite using it from 7pm onwards. This is how he prepares for the big revelation. He does not know if his efforts will be all worth it, but the important thing is he tried.

Only one table is occupied by a group of four teenagers when Emily arrived at the coffee shop fifteen minutes passing 7pm. She releases a sigh of relief as no traces of Riel is yet in the coffee shop. She occupied the couch at the corner side of the shop. After five minutes of waiting Emily received a message from Riel telling her that he is stuck in traffic and might be late on their meet-up.

"It's fine, just make sure na darating ka because I hate waiting for nothing," is Lily's reply to Riel's message.

"I am definitely coming to meet you personally," Gabriel responded to Emily's viber message.

Emily looks around while she waits, now she understands why Riel suggested to meet her in this unpopular coffee shop. She busied herself scanning on her social media accounts when a familiar man came in the coffee shop. She got startled seeing Gabriel standing at the entrance looking at her. She got no choice but to wave her hand and smile.

She felt her knees shiver when Gabriel started to walk towards her. "Boss Gab, what are you doing here?" she asked when Gabriel is few feet away from her.

"I thought you are meeting someone, what are you doing here?" Gabriel pretends to ask.

"Hindi pa dumarating yung ka-coffee date ko eh," Emily said.

"May I join you, at least while you wait. Aalis din ako kapag dumating na yung ka-coffee-date mo," Gabriel said.

"Okay lang naman, pero di ba meron kang 7pm appointment?" Emily asked.

"Yes, tapos na," Gabriel lied. "Gusto ko munang magkape bago umuwi kaya pumasok ako sa coffee shop na ito," he added.

"Grabe ang meeting mo, halos thirty minutes lang tumagal samantalang before five umalis ka na ng office," Emily commented but Gabriel just ignores her.

"Anong coffee ang gusto mo? My treat," Gabriel asked.

"Okay lang ako, Boss Gab, mamaya na lang pag-dating nung kausap ko," Emily replied.

"Are you sure? Ibig sabihin papanoorin mo lang ako habang nagkakape ako?" Gabriel asked in reply and Emily understands.

"Sige na nga, orange juice na lang siguro, Boss Gab. Mamaya na akong magkakape," Emily said.

"Okay, wait here while I get our drinks." Gabriel said before he proceeds to the cashier for their drinks.

After a while, Gabriel came back with his coffee and her orange juice. "Anong oras ba darating yung ka-date mo?" he asked.
