Gabriel is in grumpy mood while he and the JACP team wait for their group chairman. He tried to convince his grandfather not to come and join their meeting but the old man refuses.
"Good afternoon, Mr. Chairman," Grace abruptly greeted as soon as the door opens, and Don Jose enters the room. Everyone gladly welcome the chairman except for Gabriel, who just took a deep sign upon seeing who his grandfather is with.
"What is she doing here?" are in his thought.
"Have you started?" Don Jose asked.
"Not yet, Mr. Chairman, we are waiting for you," Grace said.
"Very well, let's get started then, isa lang naman ang agenda today, right?" Don Jose uttered.
The meeting started and Grace explained to everyone the details of their project. She gave them list of the authors they believe has potentials.
"Where did you get all these names?" Don Jose asked.
"We get it from wattpad, Sir," Grace replied while Gabriel remains listening.
"Marami na ring wattpad authors ang nagrelease ng books nila, anong kaibahan ng project na ito?" Don Jose asked.
"Sir, Boss Gab informed about your concern on how we will gain income from the sales of the books that we will publish. We carefully study the wattpad profile of those authors, all of them have million followers, so if we release their books may potential buyers na tayo since my following na ang mga authors sa list na yan," Grace replied.
"You don't understand what I mean, Grace," Don Jose uttered. "What I am saying is, hindi na bago ang project na ito. Gagawa rin lang kayo ng project sana naging aggressive and ambitious na kayo anyway hindi nyo naman binalak ipaalam sa akin ito eh," he further said.
"I apologize if we got you offended, Mr. Chairman, but it is not true that we will keep this project from you. We just want to polish the details before we present it to the board," Grace uttered.
"Have you talk to those authors already?" Don Jose asked.
"Yes, Mr. Chairman, some of our people communicates with these authors and ask them if they are interested na i-release ang story nila in a bigger market," Grace said.
"Sinasabi ko na nga ba eh. Naisip nyo ba how excited those newbies are when you get in touch with them and show them your interest in their works? I'm sure at this point in time, those authors are waiting for you for the details of your offer," Don Jose said.
"Mr. Chairman, we have not offered them anything yet," Gabriel uttered.
"Have compassion to those newbies Gabriel, you did not offer them anything yet, but you already gave them hope," Don Jose said. "This is what I am talking about kaya ako nagagalit na hindi nyo sinabi sa akin ang project na ito. How many times will I tell you guys na hindi tayo dapat ang lalapit sa mga authors for the release of their works. Kapag ikaw ang lumapit, ibig sabihin, ikaw ang may kailangan, and that opens the door for their demands," he added.
"These are newbies, Mr. Chairman, I don't think they could demand anything since wala pa naman silang napapatunayan," Gabriel said.
"Nakuha nila ang attensyon nyo, ibig sabihin may napatunayan na sila," Don Jose said.
"Are you asking us to shelve this project, Mr. Chairman?" Gabriel asked.
"After I read the materials for this meeting, I planned to discontinue this bullshit. But I changed my mind and thanks to Emily, my executive secretary," Don Jose uttered, and Gabriel got surprised at what his grandfather uttered while Emily felt uncomfortable upon the Chairman's mention of her name. "I think, Emily has a point, it is refreshing to have a new pool of brilliant authors for JACP but we will not do it your way," he added.
"What do you mean, Mr. Chairman?" Gabriel asked.
"We will make the authors come to us. Gawin nyong contest, and the price would be an exlusive contract for the winning author," Don Jose said, and Grace nodded agreeing to the old man's suggestion.
"Suggestion rin ba yan ng executive assistant mo, Mr. Chairman," Gabriel asked.
"No, may problema ba kung si Emily ang nagsuggest, Gabriel?" Don Jose asked.
"Nothing, Mr. Chairman, I was just asking," Gabriel humbly replied.
"Sir, don't you think mas mahihirapan tayong ibenta ang mga libro kung walang following ang mapipili natin sa contest? Or should the number of followers be part of the criteria for judging," Grace asked.
"You are disappointing me, Grace, if the number of followers matters to me, eh di sana nag-agree na ako sa initial plan nyo. Let's avoid discrimination," Don Jose commented.
"I understand, Mr. Chairman and I apologize," Grace said.
"But Grace has a point, if we want to earn from these newbies why are we not getting those with millions of followers?" Gabriel asked.
"You cannot call them newbies if they already have millions of followers, Gabriel," Don Jose said.
"I agree, Mr. Chairman, and that brings me back to your concern about earning from these newbies," Gabriel uttered.
"Hindi ba yan dapat ang trabaho ng sales and marketing people nyo? Don't make their jobs easy, Grace. Hindi naman sila lugi sa compensation and benefits nila. Don't do the work for them, hayaan nyo silang mag-banat ng buto," Don Jose said.
"I am getting your point, Mr. Chairman, thank you very much for the guidance," Grace uttered.
"I'm glad to hear that, Grace, I hope hindi lang ikaw among the people present in this discussion ang nakaintindi ng gusto kong sabihin," Don Jose said while his gaze is on Gabriel.
"We will do as you suggested, Mr. Chairman," Gabriel uttered.
"Very well, Gabriel," Don Jose said. "I already laid my point of view, it is time for me to leave so you guys can start discussing the revision of the project details," Don Jose uttered.
"Thanks again for the guidance, Mr. Chairman, I will keep you posted on the revised details before we present it to the board," Grace said.
"Just keep me posted, Grace. You don't have to exert much effort in presenting this to the board of directors. Consider this project approved by the board," Don Jose said before he exited the conference room.
"Excuse me, Sir, pwede po bang mag-comment?" Emily asked.
"Bakit naman kung kelan tayo nandito sa labas saka mo pa naisipang mag-comment, Emily?" Don Jose asked.
"Hindi po yun ang ibig kong sabihin," Emily said.
"Then what do you want to say?" Don Jose asked.
"Sir, sana hindi nyo na po sinabi na dahil sa opinion ko kaya nagbago ang isip nyo tungkol sa project. Mukhang hindi po yata nagustuhan ni Boss Gab," Emily said.
"Wag mong intindihin yang si Gabriel. I am just teaching him a lesson," Don Jose said.
"Pero, Sir, mas maganda po yung suggestion nyo na gawing contest yung pag-pili sa mga bagong authors. Tama naman po kayo eh, iba ang dating kapag may competition. That way mas mailalabas ng mga authors ang best nila para sila ang manalo," Emily uttered.
"I know that, Emily, therefore you have to prepare yourself, dahil sasali ka sa contest ng JACP," Don Jose said.
"Po?" Emily suprisedly uttered.
