39 - Mc Donalds

Before seven thirty in the evening Gabriel is already in the living room waiting for Emily to come down. He is agitated that she might change her mind and choose to stay home instead. "She cannot do that, wala syang kakainin dito," are in his thought. He is tinkering on his phone when Ms. Sonia came in and got surprise seeing him in the living room.

"Akala ko may lakad ka?" Ms. Sonia asked.

"Meron nga po, hinihintay ko lang si Emily," Gabriel replied.

"Ah kasama pala sya sa client meeting mo," Ms. Sonia uttered. "Anong oras ba dapat ang alis nyo?" Ms. Sonia asked.

"Seven-Thirty pa naman po," Gabriel replied.

"Seven-thirty na ah, bakit hindi pa bumababa si Emily, hindi kaya nakatulog? Gusto mo bang katukin ko?" Ms. Sonia asked.

"Hindi na po, ayan na po sya, pababa na," Gabriel uttered while he watches Emily going down the stairs in her ripped jeans and an off-shoulder blouse. "The simpler, the prettier," he said, and he could not help himself to smile while Emily comes near him.

"Anong sabi mo, Boss Gab?" Ms. Sonia asked.

"Wala po akong sinasabi," Gabriel replied in denial.

"Narinig kong nagsalita ka. Hindi ko nga lang naintindihan," Ms. Sonia said.

"Akala nyo lang po yun, Ms. Sonia, hindi po ako nagsasalita," Gabriel again denied.

"Good evening, Boss Gab, am I late?" Emily asked before she reaches the last three steps of the stairs.

"Nope, you are just in time," Gabriel replied.

"Kakatukin na sana kita kasi akala ko nakatulog ka eh," Ms. Sonia uttered.

"Nakatulog nga po ako, pero nag-alarm naman po ako," Emily replied.

"Oh sya, umalis na kayo at wag ninyong paghintayin ang kliyente," Ms. Sonia uttered.

"Ano po?" Emily said.

"Let's go, Emily," Gabriel authoritatively said before he walks to the door.

Emily had no choice but to follow Gabriel and not wait for Ms. Sonia's reply anymore. She immediately gets in the car and quickly they leave the mansion to have dinner together.

"May client meeting ba tayo? Bakit hindi mo sinabi, napaka-casual ng suot ko," Emily asked while they are on their way to McDonalds.

"None, it will be just the two of us," Gabriel replied.

"Eh bakit sabi ni Ms. Sonia?" Emily asked.

"That was her assumption," Gabriel replied.

"And you did not correct her?" Emily asked and Gabriel just shook his head. "Kung sabagay mas mabuti na rin na iyon ang akala ni Ms. Sonia kesa naman isipin nya na nag-date tayo," she commented, and Gabriel just throw a look at her.

When they reach Mc Donalds, both are surprised seeing the place pull of customers. They look around and saw a vacant table but for single use only. "There is one at the corner," Gabriel said then he grabs Emily's hand to lead her to the vacant table.

"Pang isahan lang ito," Emily commented.

"Okay na yan gutom na ako eh," Gabriel said, then he pulls a vacant chair. "Stay here, ako na lang ang oorder. Anong gusto mo?" he asked.

"Cheeseburger meal and sundae," Emily replied.

"Is that all?" Gabriel asked.

"Light lang akong mag-dinner," Emily replied.
