50 - Explanation

Gabriel and Emily travels to Bulacan without speaking with each other. Gabriel respected Emily's silence as he knows that what he did cannot be forgiven immediately. They have been traveling for almost an hour already, but they have not reached the tollgate yet because of a heavy traffic. Gabriel would like to grab the opportunity to talk to Emily while they endure the heavy traffic, but he does not want to add up to her worry and Emily noticed Gabriel's restlessness as he is not driving as how he usually do.

But after a while, Gabriel could not control himself to speak, "This may not be the right time for me to say this, but I still want to explain," he uttered.

"I don't have time for your explanation, Boss Gab, not now," Emily coldly uttered.

"I know, but I hope you'll give me this chance to explain. I am not asking you to accept my explanation but please at least hear me out," Gabriel uttered.

Emily leaned her head on the headrest and close her eyes, as if telling Gabriel that she does not have time to hear her explanation. But Gabriel is determined to explain so he just prefers to speak regardless if Emily will listen to him or not.

"Whether you believe it or not, I liked your entry among the other entries. It was well written as if it was written by a professional writer. So, I doubted on entry of TheLostGirl. Yun ang nagtulak sa akin to start sending you messages. Pero habang tumatagal na nagkaka-usap tayo sa chat I am starting to admire you as a person. I only planned to chat with you only until na maconfirm kong ikaw talaga ang sumulat ng entry mo. After that, tapos na. But I gained a friend in you, Emily" Gabriel said.

Emily opened her eyes and looks at Gabriel, "May kinalaman ka ba sa pagkapanalo ko sa contest? Kasi kung meron, isosoli ko ang napanalunan ko," Emily said.

"No, hindi ako sumali sa voting process because I know will be biased sa entry ng favorite wattpad author ko," Gabriel said.

"Mabuti naman," Emily uttered.

"When I learned about the identity of TheLostGirl, I felt betrayed. Alam ni Lolo at ng mga kapatid ko ang tungkol sa iyo at kay TheLostGirl, pero hindi nyo ipinaalam sa akin," Gabriel uttered.

"That is part of my bargain with the chairman. I will only submit my entry if my identity will not be revealed," Emily said.

"Franco knows about it," Gabriel said.

"I asked him to help me to boost my confidence," Emily uttered.

"Yago knows it, too," Gabriel said.

"Yago worked on the book cover design, he required to meet the author of the book," Emily said.

"And thought you were dating that time," Gabriel said. "I am part of the JACP, bakit sa akin itinago nyo yun?" he then asked.

"We thought that the authors identity was no longer your concern," Emily replied. "When you learn about the identity of TheLostGirl, that could have been your chance to tell me about Riel Del Rosario. Hindi naman ako nagsinungaling sa iyo when you asked me. But you still prefer not to tell me the truth. What was that, to get even?" she asked.

"When I learned about Lily's identity, I honestly got chickened-out to tell her the truth. I was scared that she'll get mad at me at hindi na nya ako kausapin kahit kailan," Gabriel said.

"She is mad," Emily said.

"I know she is, and I would like to apologize," Gabriel said. "Pero hindi kita pipilitin kung hindi mo pa ako kayang patawarin ngayon, lalo na sa sitwasyon ng family mo," he added.

"Yung supposed first meeting ni Lily and Riel, why did Riel cancel it?" Emily asked.

"I choose not to reveal myself yet because I feel so betrayed that time. But after we talked that night I realized, I cancelled our coffee date not because I felt betrayed but because I was afraid to lose a friend," Gabriel said.
