11 - Annual Magazine

Gabriel has a very vibrant mood when he joined his grandfather and siblings together with Emily for breakfast the following morning, and Don Jose is quick to notice it.

"Mukhang maganda ang gising mo, Gabriel," Don Jose said.

"I had a good sleep, Lolo," Gabriel replied.

"Since mukhang maganda ang mood mo today, Kuya, perhaps this is the right time to discuss with you my shots that we will use for the magazine," Franco uttered.

"Norma already send it to me last night, and I find it all impressive. Magaling ka talaga, Franco, congratulations," Gabriel uttered.

"Are you not going to ask for my opinion on those photos? Remember, mukha ko ang ilalabas sa magazine na yun, baka pwede namang makinig din kayo sa opinion ko," Don Jose said.

"Don't worry, Lolo, I will ask Norma to send you the copy of those pictures para mareview mo," Gabriel said and despite Don Jose wonders on Gabriel's cheerfulness, he prefers to unnoticed it.

"I only have one suggestion," Gabriel uttered.

"What is it, Kuya?" Franco asked.

"I suggest we have a photo with, Lolo. You, me and Yago as the heirs," Gabriel replied.

"I like that idea, Gabriel," Don Jose agreed.

"Bakit kasama pa ako?" Yago asked.

Even with a good mood, Gabriel could not help but be sarcastic at his reply to Yago, "That's the least you can do for the company." He uttered.

"Santiago, I like Gabriel's idea, please do it not for the company but for me, apo," Don Jose said.

"I agree, Lolo, Kuya Gabriel, me and you in one page is something refreshing. This will be the first time the annual magazine will feature the Chairman and his heirs. Kaya pumayag ka na Kuya Yago, do it for Lolo," Franco said.

"This year's magazine will be all about the Chairman, it will not be good if his heirs will not be featured. Lugi naman tayong tatlo, yung EA nya nasa magazine samantalang tayo wala," Gabriel said.

"Kuya, ako ang may gustong kasama si Emily sa photoshoot at pumayag ka," Franco said.

"Fine, that was a bad joke, but I will not apologize kasi may point naman ako di ba," Gabriel said.

"Spare my EA, Gabriel, hindi sya nagprisinta para makasama sa annual magazine ng JAGC," Don Jose said. "Hija, I apologize in behalf of Gabriel," he told Emily.

"No problem, Sir, I take no offense. Tama naman si Boss Gab, it is just right that your heirs will be featured in the annual magazine," Emily said, and Gabriel just throws a blank stare at her.

"So, are we settle, Kuya Yago? Mag schedule na ba ako ng photoshoot natin?" Franco asked.

"How are you going to do that kung dapat kasama ka?" Yago asked.

"I'll take care of that, Kuya Yago. All you need to do is to say yes," Franco said.

"Okay, just schedule the photoshoot immediately, malapit na ang next season ng PBA, we will start practicing anytime now," Yago said.

"Noted, Kuya Yago. Emily, I need Lolo's availability for this week, the sooner we do this the better for all of us," Franco uttered.

"I will send it to you before lunchtime, Sir Franco," Emily replied.

"So, we are settled. We will do the photoshoot anytime this week," Don Jose said.

"Just inform Norma about it, Franco. Tell her to cancel my appointment in case may masagasaan sa schedule ng photoshoot. I am willing to adjust para kay Lolo," Gabriel meaningfully uttered and Yago knows that his brother's statement is intented for him. He chooses not to comment anymore to avoid another dispute in front of their grandfather.

"I have never been this excited in the annual magazine compare to the previous years. For the first time since Yago lives with us, makakasama na sya sa annual magazine, finally," Don Jose said.

"Para sa iyo, Lolo," Yago said, gazing at his brother Gabriel.

"Thank you, Santiago, this means so much to me, Apo," Don Jose said. "By the way, Gabriel, maihahabol kaya natin ang result ng JACP contest before the annual magazine release?" Don Jose asked.

"I will check with Grace, Lolo. Bakit po?" Gabriel uttered.

"Baka pwede nating maihabol sa annual magazine," Don Jose uttered, and Emily abruptly coughs. "Are you all right, hija?" he asked

"Okay lang po, Sir, nasamid lang po ako," Emily uttered.

"Anyway, do you think maihahabol natin ang list ng winners sa annual magazine," Don Jose continued talking to Gabriel.

"As I have told you yesterday, we already shortlisted the entries and we are reviewing it. Yung identity lang ng author ang issue namin. I thought you will discuss with Grace about the protection of the authors identity," Gabriel said.

"Oo nga pala, I'm sorry, Apo, I have so many things in mind, I forgot about that," Don Jose said.

"You don't have to remember everything, Lolo. Masyadong gagaan ang trabaho ng EA mo kung ikaw pa ang magpapa-alala sa kanya na mga dapat mong gawin," Gabriel commented.

"Your discussion with Ms. Grace is already scheduled this afternoon, Mr. Chairman," Emily uttered in reply to Gabriel's comment.

"Thank you for doing that, hija. Ako na ang bahalang makipag-usap kay Grace, Gabriel," Don Jose said.

"I thought you want to protect the identity of the authors, why do you want to include them sa annual magazine ng JAGC?" Gabriel asked.

"I only want to feature the names not necessarily the author themselves. That will be a subtle way of introducing the new authors and promoting their works, Gabriel," Don Jose said, and Gabriel nodded, agreeing to his grandfather.

"Bilib talaga ako sa iyo, Lolo. You will not be JAGC's Chairman for nothing," Gabriel uttered.

"You will have your time, Apo. I know you'll do better than me," Don Jose said.

"Thank you, Lolo, words like that means so much to me," Gabriel uttered.

"By the way, baka naman pwedeng ikaw na ang gumawa ng book covers sa mga stories ng mapipili sa JACP contest," Don Jose asked.

"Ikaw na rin ang nagsabi that my plate is full. And you know that I don't do that, Lolo," Gabriel objected.

"Kuya Yago can do that," Franco said, and Gabriel frowned.

"Bakit ako?" Yago asked.

"I saw you sketching, one time. For sure kaya mo ring gumawa ng mga book covers like Papa," Franco said.

"Baka hindi nila magustuhan," Yago uttered.

"How would you know if they will like it or not kung hindi mo muna i-try, Yago," Emily commented.

"I do not know that you do sketching, Santiago," Don Jose uttered.

"Kapag wala lang akong magawa, Lolo," Yago said.

"Why not earn on times na wala kang ginagawa, Yago?" Don Jose asked. "So dalawa pala kayong nakamana ng talent ng Papa nyo," he then commented.

"I did not, Lolo," Gabriel again objected, and Don Jose shook his head as he understands Gabriel's objection.

"Okay, Lolo, I will give it a try," Yago said.

"Great, I'm glad to hear that, Santiago," Don Jose said. "Why don't you come with Emily and I later when we talk to Grace?" he suggested.

"Okay, Lolo, at least yun man lang ma-contribute ko sa JACP," Yago meaningfully uttered while his eyes are on Gabriel.
