54 - Thoughtfulness

Emily goes back to Manila early morning of Monday for work. But due to heavy traffic she arrived at the Alcaraz mansion an hour late than the usual. The triplets and the Chairman are already done having their breakfast and getting ready for their respective activity for the day when she arrived.

"Have your breakfast first before we leave," Gabriel told her.

"Busog pa naman ako. Nag almusal ako bago umalis ng Bulacan," Emily said despite feeling how her stomach is growling. "I'll just put my stuff in my room and change. Mabilis lang ako, promise," she further said and Gabriel could not comment anymore as she fastly runs to her room.

It is true that she had breakfast before she left their house but, she is on the road for almost three hours and it looses whatever she took for breakfast. But since she does not want Gabriel to wait for her, she thought of just grabbing an express food delivery when they reaches the DBS office.

In less than fifteen minutes, Emily is rushing down the stairs and ready to go to work. "You are with the President. You don't have to worry about being late today, Ms. Fernandez," Gabriel commented, smiling.

"I don't want you to be late at work because of me," Emily replied. "Shall we go now? We still have time to arrive at DBS on time," she added while she walks out of the mansion and Gabriel got no choice but to follow Emily in the car.

On their way to DBS office, Emily is restless as she is starting to starved. She did not know that Gabriel has been observing her since they left the mansion. She thank God that they are now that they are on the opposite side of the road where the heavy traffic is. She never stops checking on her watch to have the best time to proceed with ordering her breakfast delivery.

Upon exiting the express way, Emily started booking her food delivery but to her surprise she heard Gabriel uttered "Bert daan tayo ng drive-thru".

"Bakit tayo mag-drive-thru, hindi mo ba gusto ang breakfast?" Emily asked.

"Order whatever you want it is on me," Gabriel said.

"Okay lang ako, Boss Gab. Ikaw na lang ang mag-order if you like," Emily replied.

"I can hear your stomach growling, you are very uneasy. Ganyan ka kapag gutom. What do you want to have?" Gabriel said.

"I'm fine, mag-book na nga ako ng food delivery," Emily said.

"See, inamin mo rin na gutom ka talaga. Don't be stubborn, Emily. I don't want my staff starving while they do their work," Gabriel insisted. "Kung ayaw mong mag-order ako na lang ang mag-order for you," he said. "Bert, order one of each kind na nasa menu nila," he instructed his driver.

"Wait anong one of each kind na nasa menu? Hindi ba sobrang dami naman nun?" Emily protested.

I don't want to waste my time thinking what breakfast you would prefer so let's just order everything. Sa office ka na lang pumili kung anong breakfast ang gusto mo," Gabriel replied.

"Please don't that," Emily uttered.

"Then tell me what you want to have for breakfast," Gabriel casually said.

"Ham and cheese sandwich and coffee is fine," Emily got no choice but to reply.

"Ham ang cheese daw, Bert," Gabriel said.

"Bakit ako lang ang may order?" Emily asked.

"Ikaw lang naman ang gutom eh," Gabriel said. "I had breakfast at home, remember? And I'm sure hindi papaalisin ni Ms. Sonia si Bert na hindi kumakain ng almusal," he further said.

After a few minutes, Bert handed Emily her order. "Thank you, Bert. Thank you, Boss Gab," Emily uttered.

"Mas mabuti pang kainin mo na yan while we are on our way," Gabriel suggested and Emily did not argue anymore as she get even hunger upon smelling the aroma of her coffee.

She unwrapped her sandwich and started eating it while Gabriel tinkers on his phone. He could not control himself to chuckle when he hears Emily burp after a few minutes. "Next time kasi wag nang matigas ang ulo. Magkakasakit ka sa ginawa mong yan. Baka sisihin pa ako ni Lolo kapag nagkasakit ka. Kung nakinig ka sa akin kanina eh di sana hindi ka na nagutom nang sobra," he commented.

"Nakakahiya kasi kung paghihintayin kita eh," Emily said.

"That is sweet. It's nice to know that you will not keep me waiting," Gabriel meaningfully uttered but Emily was not able to get what he means.

"Of course, you are the boss here. Hindi magandang paghintayin ng staff ang boss nya. Besides kasalanan ko naman why I was not able to join you for breakfast," Emily uttered.

"Hindi naman ikaw ang dahilan ng traffic mula Bulacan hanggang Alabang so it is not your fault," Gabriel said.

"Thanks again, Boss Gab," Emily sincerely said.

"You're welcome," Gabriel gladly replied, sweetly smiling which gives Emily a little discomfort. Therefore, she looks at the window to hide that giddiness she felt about Gabriel's thoughtfulness and she could not deny that she is liking the gesture of her temporary boss.

"Since busog ka na, you may tell me now my itinerary for the day," he uttered.

"Nothing new, since Monday today, you are set to meet the Sales Team this morning and the HRD this afternoon. I already confirmed your meeting with Grace at 4pm today," Emily said.

"There is something new, wala sa itinerary ko ang tutorial sa little sister mo," Gabriel said and Emily felt she blushes when she hears Gabriel mention about her relationship with Elizabeth.

"I texted you that she wants to take today until tomorrow as her day off and you agreed. Gusto daw nyang mag-stay muna sa Bulacan para alagaan si Tatay," Emily said.

"I did not say I did not agree. Nanibago lang ako na magiging tahimik ang buhay ko ngayon," Gabriel said.

"Bakit miss mo na ba agad si Lizzie?" Emily said and it is too late to realize what she just uttered.

"And why would I miss her? Bakit nagseselos ka ba?" Gabriel asked, joking.

"Tell me you are joking," Emily said with a sharp stare at Gabriel.

"Since you confirm my meeting with Grace, would you like to come with me sa JACP?" Gabriel asked to sway their topic as he is certain that Emily will deny the jealousy and he does not want to hear that.

"Ano naman ang gagawin ko sa JACP?" Emily asked.

"You might want to see the finish product of your book," Gabriel said.

"Tapos na?" Emily excitedly asked.

"Yun ang sabi ni Grace, and I want you to see it first," Gabriel said.

"Seriously, Boss Gab, dumating na yung mga books?" Emily asked and Gabriel sees how she could not hide her excitement.

"Yes, and I want you to have the first copy of your book," Gabriel said.

"That was so thoughtful of you, Boss Gab," Emily uttered and she gain a sweet smile from Gabriel again which she could not deny giving her a happy heart.

"Blessing na rin na nag-leave si Elizabeth. At least you'll get the chance to come with me sa JACP," Gabriel said. "Excited ka na ba?" he asked.

"Sobrang excited," Emily said.

"I can see that," Gabriel said.

"Thank you, Boss Gab," Emily said then abruptly hugs Gabriel and it indeed gives him a very pleasant surprise.
