5 - Kuya Gabriel

While Gabriel is on his way to DBS head office, he could not remove from his mind his almost heated discussion with his brother, Yago. For three years that Yago lives with them, he still could not treat the latter the same as how he treats his brother Franco. Yago grew-up with their father while he and Franco grew-up with their grandfather. Their mother died of pneumonia few weeks after she gave birth. According to their grandfather, shortly after their mother died, Don Jose took him from his father and a week after that, their father also gave Franco to the old man because his youngest sibling was sickly and his father could not afford Francos's medication and that leave Yago alone with him.

When he asked Don Jose the reason why their father also gave Franco away, he said that Franco was the sickliest among the triplets and their father has no means of supporting Franco's medication that was why his father gave away his youngest brother.

He grew-up not seeing his brother and father. He only learned the whereabouts of his father three years ago, when his grandfather informed him and Franco about their father's illness. Only Franco visited their father in the hospital because for Gabriel there was no reason for him to visit someone he does not know regardless if that person was sick or not.

Few weeks after he learned about their father's condition, Franco told him their father already passed away, but it still did not soften Gabriel's heart, he never showed up on his father's wake. For Gabriel, he will never like anyone who does not like him in return.

He felt very uncomfortable when Yago finally decided to live with them. He thought that the death of their father would cut-off their communication with their other twin brother. He was unable to stop his grandfather in convincing Yago to live with them and his life was never the same since then.

Gabriel hated even the mere presence of his brother because the latter always reminds him how his father dislikes him and he believe that was the reason he was given away.

"Boss Gab, pinapatanong ni Norma kung didiretso daw po kayo sa conference room o dadaan pa kayo sa office nyo?" Bert, his driver asked, and it came him back to his senses.

"I am going straight to conference room, pwede mon ang dalhin ang lahat ng gamit ko sa office," Gabriel replied.

"Pati po ba ang laptop nyo, Boss Gab?" Bert asked.

"Everything, I don't need my laptop in that meeting anyway," Gabriel uttered.

"Okay po, Boss Gab," Bert replied.

"By the way, paki sabi kay Norma to order flowers for me, pero mamayang hapon na lang ipadeliver. Bibisitahin natin si Mama mamaya pagkatapos ng trabaho," Gabriel said.

"Sasabihin ko agad kay Norma," Bert uttered.

"Naibigay na ba sa iyo ni Norma yung tseke para sa tuition ng mga anak mo? Noong isang araw ko pa napirmahan yun," Gabriel said.

"Sinabi na nga po ni Norma sa akin kahapon, Boss Gab. Pero hindi ko pa po nakuha kasi hindi na po tayo nakabalik dito sa office kahapon," Bert said.

"Kunin mo na agad at baka makalimutan mo, baka kapusin ka sa pambayad sa tuition fee at pambili ng mga kailangan sa school ng mga anak mo," Gabriel said.

"Sige Boss, kukunin ko na po agad kay Norma mamaya. Maraming salamat po, dahil sa inyo malapit nang makatapos ng senior high school ang panganay ko," Bert said.

"Walang anuman, basta sabihin mo sa mga anak mo, mag-aaral silang mabuti," Gabriel uttered.

"Naku honor student po ang tatlong anak ko, Boss Gab, sinisiguro ko po sa inyong hindi masasayang ang perang ginagastos nyo para sa pag-aaral ng mga anak ko," Bert said.
