48 - Eve of the Coffee Date

It was a peaceful training session the next day as Gabriel and Elizabeth only had an hour and a half session because of DBS board meeting and it was Emily who took-over the session.

"Hindi ba pwedeng mag-attend na lang si Gabriel ng meeting nya then ikaw na lang ang papalit sa kanya?" Elizabeth asked.

"This is not my forte, Chef, tama lang na si Gabriel ang trainor mo mas marami syang maituturo sa iyo kesa sa akin," Emily uttered.

"Eh kung ikaw na lang kaya ang humawak ng shipping business so I could be free," Elizabeth uttered.

"You choose to stay with Don Lino, then you have to do as he said," Emily meaningfully uttered.

"I told he is a changed man now," Elizabeth said. "Anyway, tuloy tayo tomorrow?" she then added.

"Where are we going? Didn't I tell na may lakad ako bukas?" Emily replied.

"Exactly, I am going with you sa coffee date mo with that stalker of yours," Elizabeth said.

"Are you insane? Hindi ako teenager para kailanganin ng chaperon kapag makikipag-date. Tumigil ka nga Elizabeth, wag mong painitin ang ulo ko," Emily said.

"I am just worried about you, Ate," Elizabeth softly uttered.

"I know you are, but will you please trust me on this? I know how to take of care of myself," Emily said.

"Pwede bang kahit hindi ako sumama sa iyo sa coffee shop, pero I'll just be within the vicinity, para pag kailangan mo nang tulong mabilis kitang mapupuntahan," Elizabeth said.

"Tumigil ka sa kapraningan mo, hindi bagay sa iyo. Do your stuff tomorrow while I do mine. End of conversation," Emily said.

"Are you sure, Ate?" Elizabeth insisted.

"Sure na sure kaya itigil mo yang iniisip mo at ituloy mo na yang ipinapagawa ni Boss Gab sa iyo. Not because wala ang trainor mo it would me na papabayaan na kitang magbulakbol," Emily said.

"Ang sungit mo, Ate, wag ka nga laging sumasama dyan kay Gabriel at mukhang nahahawa ka na sa kasungitan," Elizabeth commented.

"Get back to work, Chef Elizabeth," Emily firmly uttered to end their conversation, and Elizabeth got no choice but to obey her sister.

Thirty minutes before the end of their working hours, Gabriel came in and frowns upon seeing Elizabeth chillin while tinkering on her phone, giggling.

"Relax na relax ka na, natapos mo ba yung pinapagawa ko sa iyo?" Gabriel asked.

"Of course," Elizabeth replied. "I already send it to your email for your review," she added.

"Impressive, sana lang ikaw ang talagang gumawa," Gabriel meaningfully uttered.

"Wag kang judgemental, Gabriel. Emily is very busy at very sungit so hindi nya talaga natulungan," Elizabeth uttered.

"Good to hear that. I'll just check on it when I get home. Sana hindi sumakit ang ulo ko," Gabriel again meaningfully commented.

"Will you please read it first before you judge my work," Elizabeth grumpily said. "And I expect a fair review, Gabriel," she further said.

"I always give fair review. We have been doing this for weeks already and nakita mo naman na fair ang judgement ko sa mga trabaho mo," Gabriel said.

"Sobrang fair nga eh, papunta na tayo sa pagiging CEO ko ng shipping business ng Lolo ko," Elizabeth sarcastically said.

"Eh yun naman ang purpose ng training na ito, di ba?" Gabriel uttered and Elizabeth did not comment anymore. "By the way, you don't have to come tomorrow, sa Monday na tayo magkita," he said.

"Wow, seriously?" Elizabeth excited asked.

"I need to leave early tomorrow, I need to attend to an important matter," Gabriel replied.

"What time will you be leaving, Boss Gab? Wala kasi sa itinerary mo yung lakad na sinasabi mo for tomorrow," Emily uttered.

"I need to leave before five, bakit may masasagasaan bang appointment? Didn't Norma told you to block Friday evening?" Gabriel said.

"Friday, 7pm ang nakablock sa schedule mo, Boss Gab. That's why I asked, akala ko kasi ibang meeting yung pupuntahan mo that's why you are leaving early," Emily explained.

"Yan din yun, Emily, I just want to prepare that's why I want to leave early," Gabriel said.

"Sige, Boss Gab, I'll just take note of that," Emily said.

"Wow, 7pm ang meeting pero aalis ng office before five. Hulaan ko, may date ka, Gabriel. Sino namang malas na babae yang pumayag na makipag-date sa iyo?" Elizabeth said and Emily hated herself for hurting by just hearing about the possibility of Gabriel going on a date.

"It's none of your business, Elizabeth. May kailangan akong kausaping napakaimportanteng tao so I don't want to go there unprepared," Gabriel said. "By the way, I already asked Lolo na baka pwedeng yung driver nya muna ang sumundo sa iyo, Emily," he uttered.

"No need for that, Boss Gab, may lakad din ako bukas after work, hindi na ako kailangang sunduin ng driver ni Mr. Chairman, ako na ang bahala sa sarili ko," Emily said.

"Ay wag kang papayag na umalis mag-isa si Ate, Gabriel," Elizabeth abruptly butts-in.

"Will you stop it, Chef, matanda na ako, kaya ko na ang sarili ko," Emily objected.

"But Elizabeth has a point. Ang mabuti pa, magpahatid ka sa driver ni Lolo kung saan man yang date mo," Gabriel said.

"At mas maganda kung hihintayin sya ng driver ni Lolo Jo, para sure na safe si Ate Emily," Elizabeth said.

"OA na yan Chef, itigil mo na yan at hindi na nakakatuwa," Emily said.

"Why does the driver have to wait for her, do you think her date will not bring her home?" Gabriel asked.

"I don't know, ang sa akin lang, para siguradong safe si Ate Emily," Elizabeth said.

"I said, stop it Chef. First, I will not go to this coffee date if I am not certain that I am meeting a good man. Second, hindi naman exclusive yung date namin. Sa coffee shop nga lang eh, and third, trust me, I can protect myself," Emily said.

"Ganun talaga kalaki ang tiwala mo sa Riel na yun?" Gabriel asked.

"Kahit sa chat pa lang kami nagkaka-usap, I know in my heart, Riel is a good man and he will not harm me," Emily said, and Gabriel abruptly felt an imaginary lump on his throat. He never expected Emily to trust a stranger this much.

"O bakit natahimik ka, Gabriel, selos ka dun sa Riel? Namumula tenga mo eh," Elizabeth teased.

"You may leave now, Elizabeth," Gabriel said. "Let's just give this to Emily and support her judgement about Riel," he further uttered.

Psst ... Boss Gab, what if hindi pala ikaw yung Riel na ka-coffee date ni Emily? Joke lang, wala namang ibang Riel sa story na ito kundi si Gabriel. 😉😊.
