As agreed with his grandfather, Gabriel works at the Office of the Chairman the next day with the assistance of Emily. For one day that he works with his grandfather's EA he got convinced that she is good at her work. He sees how she works fast and smart. He even admits that Emily is even better than Norma, but for him, that does not warrant the fondness he sees on his grandfather to his executive assistant.
"Emily, I need these documents be send to Norma," Gabriel said.
"Do I need to send these immediately, Boss Gab?" Emily asked.
"Yes, Norma needs it this morning," Gabriel uttered.
"Pwede bang scanned copy muna ang i-send ko kay Norma via email?" Emily asked.
"No, I already send her the scanned copy. Norma needs the hardcopy within an hour," Gabriel replied.
"Will it be alright if I'll be the one to send these documents to Norma? Inutusan natin si Mang Bert na pumunta sa house ni Ms. Elizabeth para dalhin yung mga manuals ng DBS," Emily said.
"How about yung driver ni Lolo, where is he?" Gabriel asked.
"Absent po, Boss Gab. Nagpaalam sya kay Mr. Chairman at pinayagan naman sya, next week pa ang balik nya," Emily said.
"Then just call Norma to ask the messenger to pick-up the documents here," Gabriel said.
"If I do that, these documents will not reach the DBS office within an hour. We are in Laguna while DBS' office is in Makati," Emily said.
"How will you get there?" Gabriel asked.
"I will just book a ride, Boss," Emily replied.
"Do you know how to drive?" Gabriel asked.
"Yes, Boss," Emily replied. "I also have a license," she added.
"Then why not use Lolo's car?" Gabriel asked.
"I'm sorry, Boss Gab. It would be nice if I can drive a luxurious car like the Chairman's pero ayokong dalin yung BMW baka maibangga ko. It would be better kung magbook na lang ako ng ride," Emily said and got a smirk from Gabriel.
"Baka hindi makarating ito kay Norma, within an hour. We are in Laguna and the DBS office is in Makati as you said," Gabriel said.
"I'll take care of that, Boss Gab. I promise to bring this to Norma within an hour," Emily said.
"Are you sure?" Gabriel asked.
"Yes, I am certain, Boss Gab. Ikaw ba okay lang kung maiiwan muna kita?" Emily asked.
"Don't worry about me, I can manage. I am in my territory," Gabriel replied.
"I will leave now, Boss Gab. I need to reach Makati within two hours," Emily said.
"Thank you for doing this, Emily," Gabriel said.
"No need to thank me, Boss Gab. I am just doing my job," Emily replied before she heads off.
Gabriel smiles as soon as Emily leaves the Chairman's office. He admires the lady's strong confidence, an attitude that will surely catch his grandfather's attention.
Gabriel continue working when Sonia enters the office. "Umalis daw si Emily kaya ako na lang ang nag-receive. Galing sa office ni Atty. Sarmiento para kay Chairman. Iwan ko na sa iyo ha," Sonia said.
"Sige, Manang Sonia, ako na lang ang bahala," Gabriel said and receives the documents from Sonia.
When Sonia leaves the room, Gabriel immediately calls the Chairman. "Hello, Lolo, am I disturbing you?" Gabriel asked.
"No, we are still in the hotel waiting for our service car," Don Jose replied.
"Kamusta byahe mo, Lolo?" Gabriel asked.
"Mabilis naman, Lino rented a private plane kaya mabilis lang kaming nakarating dito sa Palawan," Don Jose replied.
"We already met the investors yesterday and we are getting positive feedbacks. We are hopeful to seal this deal before we leave Palawan," Don Jose uttered. "Kaya galingan mo ang pag-train kay Elizabeth, Lino is considering her to handle this new business venture," he further said.
"Then, wish me luck, Lolo," Gabriel commented.
"How was it working with Emily?" Don Jose asked.
"So far, so good, I like her efficiency," Gabriel replied.
"I told you, you will not have problem working with her. Anyway, may kailangan ka ba, Gabriel?" he asked.
"A package from Atty. Sarmiento's office arrived, can I open it?" Gabriel asked.
"Of course, Gabriel, perhaps those are the documents I mentioned to you few days ago. Para yan sa renewal ng contract ng mga suppliers for the printing press. Five or six contracts yata. It only needs my signature, pwedeng ikaw na ang pumirma tutal may special power of attorney naman tayo," Don Jose said.
"Signature na lang ba, Lolo? Do you want me to review it first before I sign?" Gabriel asked.
"No need for that, Gabriel. Atty. Sarmiento sent me the softcopy of those documents and I already reviewed those. Signature ko na lang talaga ang kailangan," Don Jose replied.
"Okay, I will have it signed and send it back to Atty. Sarmiento," Gabriel uttered.
"Just sign it and Emily knows what to do after you sign it. Where is Emily, by the way? Bakit ikaw ang nagreceive nyan?" Don Jose asked.
"She needs to bring the signed annual magazine's layout to Norma. We need to start printing it within the day para ma-meet natin yung deadline. Inutusan ko kasi si Bert to send some materials to Elizabeth for her advance reading. According to Emily, you allowed your driver to take day off. Next week na daw ang balik ni Rod," Gabriel lengthy explained.
"Yes, uuwi muna daw sa probinsya for the birthday of his daughter. Pinayagan ko na tutal two weeks din naman akong wala," Don Jose replied.
"Sana lang makarating yung documents kay Norma within an hour. Medyo may yabang din yung EA mo, Lolo, ang lakas ng loob na magprisintang dalin yung layout sa Makati," Gabriel said.
"And you will be surprised, because I am certain that Emily can do it," Don Jose confidently uttered.
"We will see about that, Lolo. Bibilib ako sa kanya kapag nagawa nyang maibigay kay Norma yung signed layout," Gabriel said, and he heard his grandfather laughs from the other line.
"The service is here, we need to go," Don Jose said and hangs-up after they bade goodbye to each other.
Gabriel opens the documents from their legal office. The package contains six envelopes as what his grandfather claimed. He opens each envelope and signs it.
He wonders why the last envelope is thicker than the other envelopes. So, he immediately opens it and his eyes widen upon seeing several contracts inside the envelope.
Gabriel froze while staring at the signed JACP contracts for their new authors.
