A little before eight-thirty, Elizabeth and Emily proceeds to the Chairman's office to start working while Gabriel came in at exactly eight-thirty in the morning. He smiles seeing Emily start doing her job while Elizabeth is busy scanning the pages of a book at the desk temporarily set-up for her.
"Impressive, coming to work ahead of time is a good start," Gabriel commented. "What are you reading?" he asked.
"I don't know, Emily sent these books to me to read but it bores me, wala man lang pictures," Elizabeth said.
"How can you expect pictures on a manual?" Gabriel asked.
"Excuse me, Gabriel, kahit yung manual ng cellphones may pictures para mas madaling maintindihan," Elizabeth said. "Kahit sa cooking school namin, we make sure to put picture in our recipes to make it more appealing to the readers," she further said.
"These are company manuals, how on earth can we put pictures on it?" Gabriel irritably uttered.
"That is not my problem," Elizabeth replied while Emily continued working and tried hard not to mind how the two individuals are conversing in front of her.
"Fine, but I presume you read at least some of it, before it bores you. Kahit man lang mission and vision of the company," Gabriel uttered while trying so hard to maintain his calm.
"Yeah, nabasa ko naman ang part na yun," Elizabeth replied.
"At least there is something we could start to," Gabriel said. "What can you say about the mission-vision of your shipping business?" he asked.
"Excuse, Gabriel, I am just starting with my training, how would you expect me to comment on that mission-vision thing?" Eizabeth commented. "Perhaps at the end of the training, pwede na kita sagutin sa tanong mo," she added.
"So, where shall we start your training?" Gabriel asked.
"Why are you asking me? Di ba kayo ni Lolo Lino ang magka-usap, bakit hindi sya ang tanungin mo?" Elizabeth uttered.
"Had I known that you will be a pain in my neck on the first day of your training, hindi ko na sana pinagbigyan si Lolo Lino. I asked you, remember? Sabi mo you will give it a try. So, is this how you give it a try?" Gabriel asked.
"Yes, todo na 'to, Gabriel," Elizabeth uttered, and Emily tried so hard to suppress her laughter.
While listening to Gabriel and Elizabeth's conversation, Emily already concluded that Gabriel is close to lossing his temper on her sister. She is tempted to tell Gabriel that his approach will not work on Chef Elizabeth, but she does not want to meddle on Gabriel's style on how to train her sister.
Growing-up, Elizabeth is used on spoon-feeding, since she is the youngest and often sick, their Tatay Ador mostly gives in to his little Lizzie's whims and caprices. Perhaps that is one of the reasons why her sister prefers to stay with their grandfather, despite the old man's strictness, everything is serve to them in a silver platter.
"Excuse me, Boss Gab, here is the sales report for DBS. I already reviewed it and you might want to take a look before we prepare your board presentation," Emily butts-in.
"Bakit ikaw ang gagawa ng presentation? Norma is assigned to prepare for the board presentation," Gabriel asked.
"I'm sorry, Boss Gab, akala ko kasi ako na ang gagawa. I remember kasi when we meet a prospective client, nagustuhan mo ang presentation na ginawa ko and I can vividly remember na sinabi mong that is the kind of presentation you want to the board," Emily said.
"I have a better idea, teach Elizabeth how to make sales presentation to the board. Perhaps we could start from there," Gabriel said.
"Do you know how to use powerpoint presentation, Chef Elizabeth?" Emily asked.
"I don't even know that, how do you expect me to know how to use it," Elizabeth sarcastically replied.
"Boss Gab, mukhang mas tatagal tayo kung kay Chef Elizabeth natin ipapagawa yung board presentation," Emily commented.
"I can see that," Gabriel said before releasing a huge sigh. "I don't know what to do with this brat anymore. I have a client meeting in an hour, and I haven't read the profiles you've sent me. Can you help me with Elizabeth please, just for this day?" he asked.
"I'll see what I can do, Boss Gab," Emily uttered.
"I can't believe na pinag-uusapan nyo ako sa harapan ko," Elizabeth abruptly uttered.
"Emily will be in-charged to you today. I have an important client meeting this morning and I have to prepare. Kung aalagaan kita ngayon, malamang hindi ko ma-close ang deal na'to," Gabriel said.
"Mas mabuti pa nga siguro na si Emily na lang ang mag-train sa akin," Elizabeth said.
"Thank you for your trust, Chef Elizabeth," Emily uttered.
"You are, too formal, Ate," Elizabeth said.
Emily gave her a sharp stare before she uttered, "It is Emily, Chef Elizabeth. We are in the Chairman's office we should observe courtesy and proper office protocol,"
"Yeah, I think that is a better start, teach her proper office courtesy and protocols," Gabriel commented.
"Okay, so it will be Emily and I for my first day of training," Elizabeth asked, and Gabriel nodded. "Great, can you excuse me for a while, please," she uttered.
"Saan ka pupunta?" Emily asked.
"Whether you like it or not, I will invade your kitchen to make my sandwich," Elizabeth replied.
"We have a fifteen minutes break later at ten," Emily said.
"What? 10am pa ako pwedeng kumain? Nawalan ako ng gana kaninang breakfast so gutom na naman ako. Kapag hindi ako nakakain ngayon, mas lalong walang papasok sa kukote ko kahit na ano pa ang ituro mo sa akin," Elizabeth uttered.
"Fine, just make it quick," Gabriel said in surrender and Elizabeth happily walks out of the Chairman's office.
"Pasensya ka na kay Lizzie, Boss Gab," Emily said.
"Why are you apologizing for her, wala pang one-hour kayong magkasama, you are already on her side," Gabriel said.
"She seems nice, baka nabigla lang talaga sa iyo," Emily said.
"I don't know, Emily, but I think I made a wrong decision to train Elizabeth for their shipping business," Gabriel said.
"I suggest, have a different approach, Boss Gab. It seems Elizabeth tends to be more stubborn kapag dinidiktahan eh. Also, mukhang kailangang habaan mo ang pasensya mo sa kanya," Emily uttered.
"You are right, as always," Gabriel said. "Swerte ni Lolo kasi ikaw ang EA nya," he added.
"Yang mga gayang statement ang gustong kong makarating kay Mr. Chairman," Emily said.
"What if I tell him the opposite so he will fire you," Gabriel said.
"That's unfair, baka nga sisantehin ako ni Chairman, mahirap humanap ng trabahong kasing ganda ng benepisyong ibinibigay ng JAGC," Emily said.
"Kapag sinesante ka ni Lolo, mag-apply ka agad sa DBS as the president's executive assistant. I'll make sure, you'll get hired," Gabriel meaningfully uttered.
