Emily is in deep thought while they are on their way back in DBS. She could not comprehend why their discussion shifted from Elizabeth to Emily her preferences in life. Though she was a bit confused on why Gabriel suddenly asked her about her ideal man, she just still prefers to answer it.
"I don't believe in ideal man. Mas naniniwala ako sa bigay ng Diyos," Emily replied. "I don't set standards para hindi ako madisappoint," she added.
Gabriel smiles as he got the same answer when Riel asked Lily. "At least there are some traits of a man that can capture your attention," Gabriel said.
"Well, intelligent people, not necessarily a male one can easily catch my attention. Iba ang dating kasi sa akin ng matatalinong tao. But that does not mean that I will the person immediately. Iba naman kasi yung pag capture ng attention sa pag-like," Emily uttered.
"All right, what a person should do for you to like him or her?" Gabriel asked.
"He or She must have a good heart. Yun lang naman talaga eh. If a person has a good heart, everything follows," Emily uttered, and she got from Gabriel is a smile.
"Are you all right, Emily?" she heard Gabriel asked that makes her comes back to her senses. "Ang lalim ng iniisip mo ah," Gabriel further said.
"Naisip ko lang si Elizabeth, almost 2pm na kasi. Baka mauna pa sya sa ating sa DBS," Emily said.
"She is not paying me, Emily. Therefore, she does not have the right to complain," Gabriel said.
"But you might be showing her a bad example. You know how important punctuality is in every business," Emily uttered.
"Fine, can you please text her for me and tell her that we might be five to ten minutes late?" Gabriel asked. "Makalagpas lang tayo sa intersection na ito, aabot tayo sa 2pm, pero mas mabuti na ring alam ni Elizabeth that possibility," Gabriel commented.
"Okay, Boss Gab," Emily briefly replied and immediately tinkers on her phone to send the message to her sister.
In less than five minutes, Emily got a reply from Elizabeth telling her that she has arrived in DBS office. "Hala, nasa DBS na si Chef Elizabeth," she uttered.
"In fairness, hindi ko naman na pala dapat ituro ang punctuality sa bratinelang yun," Gabriel commented.
"At siguradong tayo ang tuturuan nya about it," Emily said.
"Hayaan mo sya, kahit magalit sya ngayon, siguradong babalik din yun bukas, kasi importante sa kanya ang training na ito," Gabriel uttered.
"For her chain of restaurants," Emily said.
"Yes," Gabriel answered. "Let's not talk about her please. Ibigay mo na sa akin ang mga oras na hindi ako trainor ni Elizabeth. I don't want to talk about her in my freetime," Gabriel said.
"Okay, Boss," Emily said.
"By the way, kamusta ang pagsusulat mo?" Gabriel asked.
"I am working on another book. Nagbigay ng deadline sa amin si Ms. Grace. She wants us to submit our next book before the launch of our first book para ma-review na daw ng mga editors," Emily said.
"What is the status of your second book?" Gabriel asked.
"Ayun hindi pa ako nakakatapos sa chapter one. I just cannot find my muses," Emily said.
"Anong inspiration ba ang kailangan mo, baka makatulong ako," Gabriel said.
"FYI, Boss Gab, romance book ang isinusulat ko," Emily uttered.
"How certain are you that I could not help you?" Gabriel asked.
"Oo nga pala, may special someone ka na nga pala," Emily sadly uttered.
"Ang lungkot naman ng pagkakasabi mo, selos ka ba?" Gabriel asked and Emily's eyes widen.
She could not believe hearing those from Gabriel. She is not jealous, and she will never be jealous. "I am not, grabe ka, Boss Gab, feeling mo may gusto ako sa iyo?" Emily asked.
"Grabe namang reaction yan, nagbibiro lang naman ako," Gabriel uttered, taking back his word.
"Hindi nakakatawa yung biro mo," Emily said.
"I'm sorry," Gabriel apologized.
"Apology accepted," Emily said.
"Seriously, Emily, kailangan ba in-love ang isang writer para makasulat ng isang romance book. Paano na yung mga nagsusulat ng horror, do they have to see ghost para makapagsulat sila?" Gabriel asked.
"Napakaliteral naman ng description mo sa muses. Of course, mas masarap magsulat ng romance story kung in-love talaga yung writer, mas mabilis ang daloy ng ideas na isusulat. But not necessarily na in-love ang writer sa isang tao. Pwedeng na-inlove sya sa isang movie na napanood nya or sa mga taong nasa paligid nya," Emily said.
"Yung entry mo sa JACP, were you in-love when you wrote it?" Gabriel asked.
"I started writing that story when I was in high school pero college na ako nung natapos ko sya," Emily said.
"Hindi mo sinagot ang tanong ko," Gabriel uttered.
"Siguro nga I was not yet in-love when I started writing it kaya hindi ko natapos. I only got the inspiration when I was in college," Emily said.
"Is it safe to assume that you already fall-in love when you were in college?" Gabriel said.
"Yes, but it did not work-out, one side love affair. We were good friends pero ako lang ang may gusto," Emily said.
"Sayang naman ang friendship," Gabriel said.
"Hindi rin, sabi ko nga ako lang naman ang may gusto," Emily said.
"Kaya friendship over na lang," Gabriel said, and there was a long silence from Emily.
Suddenly she speaks, "I can't believe I am telling this to you, Boss Gab. For the longest time, I prefer to just leave that past behind,"
"Your secret is safe in me," Gabriel said, smiling as the topic interest him a lot.
"I thought my ex-fiancé has feeling for me, too, but it turned out, may iba pala syang agenda," Emily said.
"Shame on him for doing that to you," Gabriel uttered.
"I was so in-love with him. First love ko kasi sya, kaya nga natapos ko yung story ko kasi inspired ako," Emily said. "We were good friends. Alam mo, okay lang sa akin na hindi sya in-love sa akin eh, ang masakit yung hindi rin pala tunay na kaibigan ang tingin nya sa akin. Everything about me and Clint are all one-sided," Emily said.
"You said, he is your ex-fiancé, paanong umabot kayo sa ganong level?" Gabriel asked.
"He has to marry me to save his family from scandal," Emily said.
"Ano ba yung ex-fiancé mo, galing sa pamilya ng mga politico? They should marry someone na galing sa mahirap? I'm sorry about that, yun kasi bigla kong naisip dyan sa love story mo," Gabriel said.
"Malapit na pala tayo," Emily uttered to deliberately change the topic. "Five minutes before 2pm, hindi tayo bubugahan ng apoy ni Chef Elizabeth," she added.
Gabriel noticed how Emily deliberately sway their topic, but he did not insist on knowing now what happened to Emily and her first love. But it does not mean he does not want to find out. He will do his best to know what happened to Emily and that guy named Clint.
