Chapter 47- I'm A Freak
I took a deep breath, gazing up at the paper cranes clattering against each other as they swayed from the slight breeze from the open window. It felt sweet to be home and waking up to them was amazing too. Even though I had that mobile to stare at each morning it wasn't the same, plus I left it in Seattle. I figured it would be better to leave it there if I ever came back to visit.
My eyes danced around and played a game of how many quotes I could manage to read.
'Never bend your head. Always hold it high. Look the world straight in the the eye ♥'
'Sometimes you must get swallowed by the forest, to bloom wild ♥'
'You found the colours to paint me where the world had left me grey ♥'
Personally, the last quote made me feel as if it was more directed towards me. But whose life did I change?
Before I allowed my curious mind to take over me, Reese climbed onto the bed, nuzzling besides me. I hugged him tightly, ruffling his fur. "Hey bud." He barked, wagging his tail, causing me to let out a chuckle. He hadn't been able to let me go since he missed me so much. "Aren't you the best dog in the world?" I rubbed the spot behind his ear. "Yes you are, yes you are," I mastered my little doggy voice for him.
"You know you need to get rid of that doggy voice," Dad interrupted, leaning against the doorframe.
"I love my doggy voice, and I think Reese likes it too." I did the voice again and inspected how Reese leaped off the bed and left. "Maybe not."
Dad laughed softly planting his butt on my bed, causing it to dip. "So Linda and Kal just arrived at Bora Bora, they called to tell me."
"Ugh Bora Bora, wouldn't that be such a dream to go to." I moaned, wanting to just pack my things and leave. "We hardly go on holidays."
Dad looked at me as if I had said the stupidest thing ever. "You can't be serious? We just came back from Seattle."
"I know that," I concluded. "What I meant was that we never have the chance to go out of America. Remember how we used to always travel?"
"That's because back then my career wouldn't get in the way. And your mom was here to drag my ass all over the world." He snorted pulling me to his side.
"I know." I pouted, distinctly remembering all the memories of going to France, Italy, Germany. We were actually planing to going to Spain, and I remembered her asking for Jillian to come along. But that clearly wasn't ticked off since she died. "Don't you think mom would want us to carry on travelling?"
"Yeah, she would. She definitely would tell me to toughen up, and force me out of the bed. Don't worry kiddo, one day we will. I promise," he told me with a smile.
I came to know what he meant by 'one day.' It wasn't going to be tomorrow, nor would it be the day after. But it was definitely somewhere in the future, we just didn't know when, and I'd wait.
"So what gender are you betting the baby to be?" I decided to flip the subject, challenging him.
"I know it's going to be a girl," he replied confidently.
