Chapter 54- In Reality Goldilocks Would Have Died

*Milas PoV

When I fluttered my eyes open, the first thing I saw was a blank celling with no cranes like usual, already suggesting that I wasn't home.

Then a rhythm of beeping noises flooded my ears.

The familiar lemon tang was in the open air, walking inside of my nostrils, bringing back some sort of nostalgia.

I was in a hospital.

Why was I in the hospital?

The last thing thing that I could clearly remember was that I fell asleep in Adrians arms after I had told him everything and witnessed his reaction.

Now I felt naked without his warm arms wrapped around me.

Ugh, I didn't even want to think about what was going to happen next.

Where was he?

"Hey." Dads voice approached softly, starting to take shape as he stood up to peer down at me laying on the bed. "I hope you rested well."

I batted my lids before my lenses gradually focused on his puffy eyes and his ruddy complexion that looked like he was brought back from the dead.

If anything, it seemed as though he needed to lay in this hospital bed more than me.

The only reason why he tended to be like that was because he knew ...

My father eventually figured out what his little girl was going through.

My father who was going to blame himself.

My father who thought he took care of me all by himself.

"Dad?" I rasped, leaning foward to readjust myself so I could fully see him.

My heart throbbed from the way he was trying to form words, but couldn't utter anything. I centred my attention on my surroundings to cope with the nerves, noting how I was in a gown with all my bruises evident on my arms.

I didn't know how to react when dads eyes just shifted onto them, counting each and every one of them, before I tucked them under the thin blanket.

"Why am I in here?" I was the first to make the small talk, avoiding eye contact as I stared at the bottom of the bed.

He exhaled audibly, taking a seat in the chair besides me. "It was my idea. I had to make sure that you were okay ... and wasn't too damaged."

"What did the doctors say?" I turned my head to the side to meet those hazel eyes that turned matte now.

"No more monkeys jumping on the bed," he joked, brightening my mood a little, before his face fell yet again.

He rubbed his chin, sounding exhausted, probably because he was waiting for me to wake up. "They uhm ... they said that you're lucky." He scoffed, shaking his head. "They also said that if Nolan- if he laid another finger on you ... you would've broken a rib."
