Chapter 32- AIDS Awareness
"I can't believe you dragged me to the FRICKING mall at 11 a.m. when I warned you not to!" I moaned while treading down the escalator.
"Relax, you had to wake up you lazy ass, or else we wouldn't be able to prepare anything for him. We only have one more thing to pick up, our outfits, and then we can leave." She clutched onto all the Macy's bags she bought.
Outfits, huh? At the moment, I didn't care about my clothes. All I cared about was planning this surprise party as perfect as possible.
I responded by screaming, "We haven't gotten everything for the party!" I checked the time on my phone and freaked out even more. "WE ONLY HAVE LIKE AN HOUR LEFT! AND WE STILL HAVEN'T BOUGHT THE BALLOONS OR BANNER!"
An old man behind us blocked his ears while listening to me rant. "Can you please not shout!" He yelled over my voice.
I glared at him, putting him on the spot. "Oh do you want to fight me?" I leaned in threatingly. "Look Mr Pete, because you somehow look like a Pete to me."
"But it's my friends eighteenth birthday today. And unfortunately, he's never really gotten to celebrate a birthday before. So today I want to make it really special for him and I'm going to try my best to give him the birthday he deserves. Because he's an AMAZING PERSON AND DESERVES THE WORLD! Now, if you don't mind me but I will scream all I want. Got that?" I glowered with an off putting tone.
He blinked blankly, struggling on what to do as I was drawn softly back with Vivian stepping in front of me. "Sorry sir, she's a bit nuts today, she's isn't always like this." Vivian chuckled while the old man found it humourless. "She really doesn't know what she's saying since someone didn't have her breakfast today."
"And I wonder why," I huffed, crossing my arms above my chest.
"Yeah, you might need to take your friend to a mental hospital," the man rudely suggested, walking off and leaving us stranded.
I scoffed, watching him pass by. "I would've beaten that mans ass with a fecking baseball bat. You should've let me!"
Vivian rolled her eyes annoyingly. "Totally, you should definitely beat an elderly to death and risk the fact a security guard discovers you committing this crime. Then this entire party thing would go down the drain and there would be no point of it, while you're stuck in prison waiting for someone to bail you out. Now do you really want that?"
I shrugged, staring at my feet as I shuffled around. "Yeah?"
She groaned, throwing her hands in the and storming off. "Ugh, you're unbelievable Mila. You know what, why don't we just split up? I'll go to the store and I'll pick out whatever I think will suit you. Whilst you go to the party shop and pick up the balloons and banner."
"Sounds ... okay," I agreed. "But don't pick anything that's too revealing, something cute, okay?"
"Believe me, I know how you're like." She exhaled. "Meet me outside the store in thirty minutes. I'll text you when I'm done."
I nodded at her in agreement and we both split paths, separating from one another.
Out of all days, why was today the day where the store was filled with people? I mean how many people had their birthdays today? Did they all just have sex at the same time or something?
I picked out some red, helium filled balloons as well as a large blue banner that said: 'Happy Birthday!' in white.
I couldn't believe today was his birthday. Yeah, I'd only known him for a while. But he was turning eighteen, a big eighteen. And so had the rest except for Elliot, who had his birthday in July. I was one of the youngest with my birthday all the way in May.
