Chapter 28- He's Broken

I knocked on the huge door, desperate for someone to answer. The rain droplets kissed my skin, leaving coldness behind. The cried water drenched my hair, trickling down my neck, and soaked my dress. My hands felt numb as the wind smacked against my face, but I couldn't care less.

I couldn't help myself, but feel anxious for Adrian. He was doing so well lately, and I didn't want someone to ruin it. Particularly not his dad. Now I knew. Everything summed up. Him hating the name 'Addy.' Him avoiding to talk about surfboarding, it all just linked up to his father. All this time I hadn't realised how difficult his home life must had been, he hid it soo well.

Unfortunately, Al opened the door with an ice pack clutched against his busted lip. Ouch that looks bad. Hah, you kind of deserve it! Who the hell even thinks to cause mayhem in another persons home, especially an old friends.

His expression turned into a frown when he came to terms it was me. "What do you want?" He hissed.

Certainly don't want you! Asswipe.

"Could I come in? I need to speak to Adrian," I rasped, shivering in the rain.

He scoffed at me. "As if you haven't already caused enough trouble."

"I'm not going to apologise for what happened as it wasn't my fault." I stood up to him. "And right now I'm not really in the mood to argue with anyone," I stated, feeling my short hair stick to my neck.

He was about to slam the door on me, until Jillian came into view. "Al who's at the door?" she inquired with slight stubbornness in her tone.

"No one," he lied, glaring at me.

I narrowed my eyes on him, and did something that would probably annoy him even more. "It's me, Mila!" I yelled, capturing her attention.

I heard her stumbling down the stairs to stand besides Al. "Oh Dios mío, what are you doing here?" she asked, glancing at Al like he wanted to murder me.

The vague atmosphere I recurved from him reminded me of Nolan. They both shared aggression, and were both very fond of alcohol. I hated the whole idea of seeing him as another Nolan as it frightened me. I shoved the thought to the back of my head, not wanting to think about it anymore.

"Can ... I ... speak to Adrian?" My mouth quivered, as I wrapped my arms around me, trapping any warmness that was left.

"Entra, entra." She scurried me inside. And boy was I relieved to feel the warmth and coziness heat my blood up again, but not enough, as I could still feel my nose dripping like a tap.

"¿No podrías dejarla entrar? La pobre niña se está congelando." (Couldn't you let her in? The poor girl is freezing). She lectured him as he rudely rolled his eyes.

He waved a hand at her. "I never understand what you're saying, and I think I prefer it that way." He walked off.

Jillian looked like she was going to snap at any moment. "I still don't know why I'm married to that man." She grunted.

I wonder what mom would think about her best friends relationship that was now broken.

She turned to stare at me, and her eyes widened when she saw me dripping in water. "Honey you must be freezing," she gasped, rushing around the mansion to look for something. "You should've brought a jacket when you came here."

It only started raining when I parked dad BMW outside. Plus I was too focused on wanting to speak to Adrian.

I stopped her when she carried on roaming around the house. "I'm fine." I gulped while my fingertips felt fragile. "I just really need to speak to Adrian."
