*JOHN'S POV*
"A-A ruptured spleen?" I questioned, repeating back what the doctor had told us about Freddie's injuries. They said he had a ruptured spleen and internal bleeding from the crash, the injury needing surgery to stop the bleeding and to remove the spleen (if it was too damaged to repair).

"Yes." The man nodded. "It's what was causing Freddie's internal bleeding. The force of the impact he received was enough to rupture the organ and we needed to operate to stop the bleeding and repair it before it worsened the situation for him." He explained.

"Did you fix it?" Brian spoke up, his voice serious as he looked at the doctor.

"We operated and did the best we could to repair the damage to the spleen." He nodded again. "The bleeding has stopped and the repair was made but it will still be touch and go from here. The would may reopen and we may need to operate again and remove the spleen completely." He rambled, Brian nodding along this time as if he understood what he was saying (at least one of us bloody did!).

"Is he going to be okay?" Roger piped in from his spot in bed, Ivy now lying beside her Papa as he held her close to him.

"He should be. If all goes well he may just need a few days in hospital to recover from the surgery before we send him home." The doctor explained.

"What, what if it doesn't go well?" I asked myself, worried that something worse could happen to him if things went south.

"If the sutures we put in to close the wound to the spleen happen to break, then there is a chance of the wound reopening as I mention. This will need emergency surgery to fix as Freddie would then have an internal bleed again."

"Fuck." I heard Rog mumble to himself, reflecting exactly what I was thinking myself. I knew Fred was in a bad way but I was hoping that one operation could fix it. If he starts bleeding again how are we meant to know?! What if they send him home and it happens?! How are we going to know he's bleeding internally?!

"Does this operation usually repair things the first time, or is a spleen removal afterwards common?" Brian quizzed, using his giant brain to actually ask serious and important questions while my mind wandered to just wanting to see Freddie again.

"A repaired spleen usually will hold perfectly. It's only in times where the wound is major that we would just remove the spleen completely. I want Freddie to stay in Intensive Care until we are sure that his wound will not reopen, then he can be assessed and discharged." He explained again, Brian nodding once again. "Do any of you have any questions before I leave?" He asked.

"C-Can I see him?" I asked myself, wanting desperately to just look at him, to know he was okay for myself.

"I don't think he's up to visitors quite yet." He answered, making my heart sink. "He's still recovering at the moment, but I'll send a member of my team to find you when he's been cleared." He smiled softly, me nodding in response as I felt Bri's hand squeeze my shoulder again. "I've got to run, I've got some other things going on, but I just wanted to update you on Freddie's condition myself and let you ask any questions you had." He nodded.

"Thank you." Brian smiled back as I stayed quiet, feeling down that I couldn't even see Fred yet. I just wanted to see him. I knew he was recovering but just seeing him would be enough for me. The doctor nodded again before turning to leave, closing the door behind him.
