MELO'S POV

ONE MONTH LATER: AUGUST 22

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY!" Lani yelled through the phone.

"Thank you." I chuckled.

It was about 7:00 in the morning, and she had FaceTimed me.

"Did I wake you up?"

"Yea." I rubbed my eyes.

"Oh." She mumbled.

"It's okay though....I was just about to get up anyway."

"What are your plans for your big day?"

"I don't know.....I'm probably just gonna go shopping with the guys."

"That's it?!?!" She laughed. "You're eighteen! You have to do something a little fun."

"It will be fun." I smiled.

"Whatever....I mailed you your present a while ago. It's probably in your mailbox. So when you get a chance, open it." Her white teeth showed.

"I told you not to get me anything."

"It's just a little something." She smirked.

"LANI YOU'RE ON IN FIVE!" Someone yelled from behind her.

"I'll call you back after my show."

"Okay." I mumbled.

She hung up, and I huffed. Lani was currently in Europe for her world tour, meaning when it's 7:00 am in LA, it's 7:00 pm there. The time difference is the hardest thing about seeing her, but it is what it is.

I set my phone on the nightstand next to me, and got out of the bed. First, I took a shower, then I brushed my teeth and washed my face. Lastly I got dressed, and got ready to go downstairs. It was already nine in the morning by now, so I know my family is awake.

"MELO DIP!" My dad yelled as I walked into the kitchen.

"Hi dad." I smiled as he pulled me into a hug.

"Happy birthday." Gelo dapped me up, and handed me an envelope.

"What's this?"

"Just open it." He rolled his eyes.

I pulled open the sticky envelope, and inside of it held a blue birthday card. There was $500 sitting delicately inside of the card, and my eyes became big.

"I figured since we're going shopping you should have some money."

"Thanks Gelo." I hugged him.

"Why didn't you come home last night?" He referenced towards our house with the guys.

"I just wanted to spend time with mom and dad."

My mom turned the corner, and she was wiping her eyes with a tissue.

"Momma don't cry." I chuckled, pulling away from Gelo's hug.

"You're 18 already." Her face was red.

"Stop crying." I kissed her forehead. "I'm still your baby."

She nodded and looked around the kitchen.

"Where's Lani?"

It was quiet after she asked her question.

"Last night she called and said she had another show today, so she couldn't fly out."

"Oh, I'm sorry son." LaVar patted my shoulder.

"It's fine. I wasn't expecting her to come out anyway. She got a nigga, and he definitely don't fuck with me enough to let her come see me alone."
