Chapter 55: Work hard, play hard

"Ready Shoto?" Asked Izuku nervously.

It had been early afternoon when he'd finished the fusions, and he'd brought them to the woodland he trained the class in, using radar to check for onlookers on the way. The woodland was cool relative to the humid atmosphere of the city and since the sports festival had made them all quite well known faces, it was important no one saw them doing this.

Todoroki nodded firmly, he'd had enough of quirklessness, even though he'd never admit that out loud. The feeling of helplessness was awful.

Izuku nodded and turned to Shinsou who had hung back near the tree line. "Alright then. Toshi stay very far back, whatever happens can't hurt me, but you'd be fucked."
"Sure." Grumbled the sleep deprived teen, then Izuku gave the look and he sighed. "Alright."
He backed even further from the clearing, settling against a particularly large pine tree and pretending to look at his phone. Not like he could resist Izuku when the damn guy was giving him puppy eyes.

Shinsou soon realised why Izuku was so nervy.
The moment he kissed Todoroki's cheek, fire then ice then fire shot out of his body in all directions alternating rapidly, immediately Izuku's hands raised and a huge force field formed centring around him and Todoroki, and containing all the fire and ice before it could reach Shinsou, who just stared as the Shounen style elemental ball shook and fluctuated between fire storms and blizzards. It continued like that for a good few minutes in which Izuku left the force field and walked over to a bag he'd brought with them.

Eventually Todoroki managed to get used to the new power and sensitivity of his quirk... By which point all the teen's clothes had burned away, as had all the vegetation nearby and there was an inch depth of water over the area.
Izuku, cheeks tinted pink, deactivated the forcefield and hurled the clothes he procured from the bag at the nude teen, eyes firmly averted.
"I told you, you should've worn your suit." he called, as Shinsou burst into laughter.

The greenette was wearing a spare boiler suit from the support department given to him by Hatsume for their experiments, an item a nuclear bomb probably couldn't damage and thus, sadly to the boys, still fully clothed.

While Todoroki changed into his proper suit, Izuku knelt and ran a hand across the charred earth. Shinsou watched him confused, until the pinpricks of green began to appear, and veins of emerald light seemed to weave out and pulse from where he touched the ground. He and Todoroki froze and watched as plants regrew, rising like a time lapse film, growing upward and flourishing.
The bizarre new life spewing from the ground rippled outward in a wave from his touch, until the whole clearing looked as if Todoroki's loss of control never happened.

He rose from his knees with a gentle smile. "I... fused Recovery Girl's quirk... with a few plant ones... I got two copies, from USJ and the sports festival, so I thought one for animals and one for plants..."
The two boys nodded before hurriedly focusing on anything other than Izuku's bashful expression. Shinsou checked his phone, Todoroki fiddled with his shoes.

Once the bicoloured male was dressed again, they began working on his quirk - on their new quirks - together, whilst Shinsou listened to music, and made the occasional sarcastic comment.
Having been trained intensively since a young age with his quirk, Todoroki adapted much faster that Bakugou had - though he too was a little sulky Izuku could wield it well instinctively.

"Hey, I thought you weren't gonna use fire?" Asked Shinsou after twenty minutes, when his curiosity and boredom got the better of him.
Todoroki turned to look at him, then glanced back at the flames dancing in the greenette's palms. "It isn't his fire anymore. It is mine and Izukus'."
