Chapter 52: League of their own

The exams were uneventful, though this time Izuku didn't deliberately get anything wrong just to fit in. The passive memory quirk was useful and subtle - he didn't technically need it...but after fighting Stain, he'd been training in combat even more than before so having to spend less time revising had been helpful.

Up until recently, only Aizawa had been able give him a challenge, and even then he won four fights out of five against his father. However, now he had Hawks.
The hero was very quirk reliant but his fighting style, utilising two feathers like swords was perfect for Izuku to practice against, with any of his weapons. Unfortunately the hero was often busy and usually not in the mood to train when he was free, which left Izuku improving in the only ways he could without an opponent.

Investing so much time and energy, it wasn't unusual for Todoroki to find him asleep in the gym; though after that first time with Shinsou... he never risked directly touching Izuku to wake him... just calling softly worked, unsurprisingly, Izuku was a pretty light sleeper.
He wished the greenette would tell him more about his mother, but he never brought it up. What he had with both Aizawas... was worth too much to risk.

What Izuku also did on the run up to exams, was take on tutoring Kaminari, Kirishima, Sero and Ashido, with Bakugou's 'help' along side his combat training for the class. And thanks to their efforts both Kirishima and Sero passed well.
However, neither he nor Bakugou could bring Kaminari and Ashido up to date, from junior high school levels in the time they had so those two failed. He couldn't work those kinds of miracles.

Practical exams.

Izuku watched each fight with the teachers. To be fair he practically was one. How they did in combat reflected on him far more that All Might, whose lessons recently had really proved how appropriate his hero name was. All might and no mind.

Todoroki & Yaoyorozu vs Eraserhead - Capture
Though none of the observing teachers noticed it, when Yaoyorozu was fighting Aizawa hand to hand - feat in itself that proved how much she'd improved, when he hit her, she exaggerated the recoil, and faked slightly more damage. When she suddenly hit the teacher with unexpected speed considering the apparent injury, it enabled Todoroki to encase the surprised teacher in ice.

Kaminari & Ashido vs Nezu - Fail
You can't use dirty tactics or any kind of combat against a genius in a crane you can't reach. R.I.P.

Aoyama & Uraraka vs Thirteen - Capture
It was an uneventful fight really, as Thirteen was too unsuited to combat, and Uraraka and Aoyama didn't need to do anything clever to capture them..

Koda & Jirou vs Present Mic - Escape
Izuku smiled happily, watching Kouda overcome his fear of insects in order to terrorise Present Mic. He felt his father enjoyed that fight slightly too much though.

Tokoyami & Asui vs Ectoplasm - Capture
Well... that was insane. So many clones, and that giant composite one at the end... Thank god they had their brains in gear and gave the cuffs to Dark Shadow.

Sero & Shinsou vs Midnight - Capture
Asking Midnight if her bra size was only a B was the perfect way to take control. Sero barely needed to do anything.
Shinsou was definitely gifted when it came to dirty tactics, pity it was so dangerous for him to use them publicly.
