Ayesha Rakki's POV

"Can we talk?" Napabuntong-hininga nalang ako at sinenyasan siyang pumasok.

"Anong pong sasabihin ninyo?"

I hate this.

"I owe Sean so much for the person you've become today. He raised you with love, discipline, and care, and seeing how successful and strong you are now makes me realize that he truly did everything right."

"No need to thank Uncle Sean because it's normal for him to take care of me. After all, siya lang naman yung pamilya ko dito."

"I'm sorry." Naikuyom ko ang kamao sa narinig.

"When did you know that I was your child?"

"Ten years ago. Mrs. Tina told me everything. She told me how Mrs. Belinda brought you there to raise you like her own. I didn't believe it at first. I thought maybe she was mistaken, or maybe she was just trying to comfort me because I was already searching for answers back then. But when I confronted Sean... he told me the truth."

"At tinanggap mo lang yun?" Hindi ako makapaniwala.

"No. I was angry. Confused. I kept asking why nobody told me sooner. Why I had to find out that way. But after Sean explained the situation, I realized there wasn't really a choice anymore. The people involved were dangerous. Staying away from you became the only way to protect you."

"I don't need anyone's protection."

"I know you don't think you do. You've grown up strong, independent... stronger than any of us expected. But please believe me when I say that everything we did was because we were terrified something would happen to you."

"Terrified enough to lie to me for years?"

"Yes..." Wow.

"That's bullshit."

"I know."

Gusto kong magalit. "You were in the same places as me so many times. You looked me in the eye pretending to be nothing more than a stranger."

"You think that was easy for me?"

"I don't know!" Napipikon na ako. "Because I don't know anything anymore! Lahat kayo nagsisinungaling!"
