"Ruel? Do you believe in god?"
"I don't know"
"Me either"
"But I do believe everything happens for a reason" he says.
I look up into his eyes.
"I believe the world just is" I say.
"So you believe there is no meaning behind our lives? Things don't happen for a reason?"
"I think the world just keeps spinning around forever. We are just here for a little bit" I say.
"I think the world can be a beautiful place"
"It could"
I feel his arms wrap tighter around me.
"We are so small in this universe. So....insignificant" I say.
"I don't like thinking about that"
"How we are nothing?" I ask.
"How everything is so big. Our world could be a grain of sand compared to other galaxies"
"I think it's beautiful. You never know what's out there"
"You never know" he says.
I hear him sigh.
I turn my body towards Ruel and look into his eyes.
We pause for a minute.
I grab his face and give him a peck on the nose.
He smiles.
Ruel re-adjusts the blanket that we are sharing and I take this as an opportunity to move.
I swing my leg over him so I'm now sitting on his lap, facing him.
Ruel re- wraps the blanket around both of us.
I can feel his hands on my waist as I put my lips on his.
I have one hand on the back of his neck and the other one on his jawline.
After a little while I pull away to catch my breath, both my hands cupping his face.
My forehead and nose are still touching his, both of us out of breath and laughing.
"Oh my gosh my heart is beating so fast right now" I say.
"You amaze me Nica, you really do" Ruel says.
I quickly put my lips back on his.
