*The next day*
Yawning, I slowly walk into the classroom. I see that Maeve has another table next to her, but then I am close to Ruel again. Still, I sit there and my eyes close almost as I rest my head on the hard table.Maeve: "Yesterday did not bring anything good, did it?" She says rubbing my back with her hand.
She is absolutely right. It went really bad there.
Yasmine: "It was terrible. I was even worse than I thought."I was unable to sleep last night because it turned out to be very bad. And everything went through my head.
I take the hairelastic off my wrist and make a bun on top of my head.
Maeve: "Was Austin present?" She asks curiously.
Yasmine: "Luckily not. I really never have to see that man again."
He may get out of my life, he may be my father, but he did not behave like that.
If he had been present I would have left the building right away. I hadn't shook his hand. Not even a glance at him. I would even close my ears if he started talking.(Ruel's pov)
I still wonder what she did yesterday. It all sounds so strange. Just all the things they are talking about. And it is not just an appointment where she had to go. Otherwise she would have been clearer about it.(Yasmine's pov)
3 cups of coffee later I am finally awake. But what is that energy needed for when the school day is already over. I just have to walk home.I am on my way home and walk in with my music. But I feel like I'm being chased. I turn off my music and quickly turn my head.
I start rolling my eyes when I see Ruel walking.
Yasmine: "I thought you had a car." I notice.
Ruel: "I was on my way to get an ice cream."
I look at him questioningly. Why would you get an ice cream on your own? First, it is not fun at all. And the chance that your ice cream is melting is very low. It is not that warm.
Ruel: "And I hoped you would like an ice cream too." He completes his sentence.
I have to smile and roll my eyes.
I have understood all those tricks.
Yasmine: "So I'm really not going on a date with you."
Ruel: "No it's fine, but I want to get to know you better."
I sigh happily at this ridiculous idea. Getting-to-know-date with Ruel. What am I doing?
Yasmine: "Okay fine."
He is so enthusiastic that he almost jumps. But he quickly acts tough. But you don't get around to see his eyes shining and radiating energy from here to Tokyo. We walk towards the ice cream parlor and think about what I'm doing now. I am really crazy. Why am I going again? This is not good for us. If anyone finds out about this, we have a big problem.
Yasmine: "Ruel I think you can make wise choices, so think carefully about this."
He looks inquiringly. He is also especially surprised that I suddenly say this.
Yasmine: "We try to keep as far apart as possible or we risk a lot and I'm going to try to trust you."
Ruel: "Okay, second." He says without having to think about it.Of course I shouldn't have let him choose, because I already expected this answer. I'm almost the only one who knows the risks behind this choice, but I can't tell him without scaring him. Because technically, he risks his own life now.
Yasmine: "Please think it over carefully. I keep saying it until it can't be reversed. You're not safe with me because I'm not safe. And I don't want anything to happen to you. I can't protect you , you have to do that yourself, that's why you have to make a good decision." I say wisely.
He nods, but this conversation raises even more questions with him, I see that. But I have to tell. If I don't tell him, he will soon have no choice at all. Maybe not in everything anymore.Ruel: "Let's do 10 questions for 10 questions. Since I want to get to know you, but little truth comes out of you." He says as we walk around the corner.
Yasmine: "I'm not lying. I'm just paying attention to what I'm saying."
I pluck a leaf from the hedge and tear it into pieces.
Ruel: "But are you participating?" He asks with a curious tone.
Yasmine: "So you can be the detective? I don't think I have much choice in this."
He shrugs with a smile. But I can see in his eyes that he is doing well when I have to give the truth to ten questions from him. Another thing I should have said no to. Then why can't I do that to him? I can also lie, but I can also play sneaky.Yasmine: "Shoot your shot." He looks at me in surprise. Apparently he thought I didn't dare. I dare, but I just think it's not smart.
Ruel: "What is your full name?"
I look at him with frowning eyebrows. If he's wasting his questions like that, I'm fine. But I think I better prepare for the worst.
Yasmine: "Yasmine Darcie Gray." I say with a solemn tone.
He nods and waits until I ask him a question.
Yasmine: "Do you have any brothers or sisters?"
Ruel: "Yes, Coco and Sylvie."
Wait what?!
I look at him shocked at what I just found out. Sylvie van Dijk has been an intern with my therapist and has immersed herself in my story. Coco has also come into contact with this. But apparently Ruel doesn't know anything about it. Well for now we'll just keep that in. Apparently he didn't see how I just looked at him, because he asked nothing. I had secretly hoped that because that was one less question for me.Ruel: "What was the message about and then you panic?" He asks with a grin.
So I could have expected this. That interrogation, just like with the police.
Yasmine: "My father." I say with a sneaky expression on my face.Ruel: "You are a good player." He says laughing.
Yasmine: "Thank you. Calls practice."We walk into the ice cream parlor and it is quite busy so I will use that.
Yasmine: "Why do you want to know things about me?" I ask, when I actually already know what he is going to answer. But I don't necessarily have to ask him something. So I'm going to use my questions to play smart.
Ruel: "I don't know. The way you do it raises questions. And you speak in a kind of code language that I don't understand, so I do it this way."Ruel: "What do you want? Then I'll order and you can sit down."
Keep the art of keeping your mouth shut. Now he's wasted a question on what I might as well have said myself.
Yasmine: "Vanilla."
Ruel: "That's basic, never tried anything else?" He says laughing.
Me: "Oh yes, but this is still the best and you waste your questions." I say with a grin.
He tries to look at me angrily, but his hazel green eyes shine so that says enough.
